Cool to wander around if you're in San Ignacio
This is the main market in San Ignacio. There is quite a bit of grocery food and day to day clothing available here for the locals. There are also some decent tourist/souvenir shops to visit. I spent about 45 minutes or so here, I wouldn't stay much longer than that.

Vibrant market
The saturday market is definitely a must when visiting San Ignacio! It's vibrant and offers you so much to see. There are of course a lot of stands which sell different kinds of fruit and vegetables, but there are also a loot of good food stands and some stands where you could buy arts and crafts. They are very strict now with the covid-19 situation and you will have to sanitize your hands before entering the market.

Great place to try traditional food

We walked along the whole market and bought some very nice souvenirs. We also bout fresh fruit and vegetables to bring to our hotel. For lunch we had traditional Belizean food at one of the kiosk. Very good experience

Good market.
We came to the Saturday market as we had heard it was the major one of the week, which it was. We enjoyed the prepared food options and tried food from a few stands. We also bought fruit to bring back to our lodge. I think it is worth a visit if you are in town.

Colorful Farmer's Market
This was a fun experience. I always love going to local markets when we travel. You really experience the local culture. This is a good sized market with lots of small eateries making local food. The pupusas were great. We bought some fresh squeezed OJ from a stall and some sliced fruit. They also have booths selling tourist items which are fun to look at.

fresh local food
We visited the San Ignacio Market everyday that we were there to purchase fresh fruit. Prices are super cheap. We were able to buy 10 bananas, 5 oranges, pineapple, papaya and a mango all for less than $5 USD. They let you pick your own fruit, and helped us figure out which ones were ripe for eating. The fruit in San Ignacio is so fresh, and sweet. If there's one day to go, it's definitely Saturday morning. We got there at 7am, and it was already busy. We had the best breakfast where we ordered almost everything off the menu at one of the food booths. We were a group of 5, and had a large breakfast with drinks for less than $15 USD. Also on Saturday, there are multiple people selling souvenirs. If you're paying in USD, do the conversion in your head or use a calculator to count your change. We found that some places did not give us correct change in Belizean dollars back. We weren't sure if it was on purpose, or they just couldn't break it. Try not to bring anything larger than a $5 bill if what you're purchasing is only $1 BZD-$2 BZD. You're better off using $1 bills.

Nice Local Produce and Goods

We stopped by the market between tours. It was a great place to see local produce, goods, and get some fresh coconut water and juices. There were also individuals making homemade meals, although we didn’t try them.

Great shopping experience
The market is open every day, but for the best market experience go on a Saturday morning. Many vendors have stalls of fresh fruits and vegetables, household items, clothing, and souvenirs from Belize. The more you look, the more things you will discover. The locals are courteous, friendly, and are happy to explain some rather unusual fruits like the sapodillo. Across the street is the French Bakery which provides about ant baked good you might need.

Lots to eat

I had a great visit to the market to get some delicious food. Not a huge market but lots to eat. Goods from various vendors. Clothing and other stuff at the market across the street. And yummy hot food. The horchata was nice on a hot day.

Nice local market
Tons of fruit/vegetable stands to explore, and a lot of market food options as well. Definitely a fun spot to wander around during the morning. Not a ton of souvenir type stalls, but it's a local market, and Covid has really cut down on tourism, so that might change once tourism picks back up. For now, enjoy some fryjacks and fresh juice while you wander around. As an added bonus, the market is across the street from a Covid test center, so you can wander while you wait for your results of your "return to your country test." Convenient!
