We tried and failed to make it. After about 2 hrs of driving through the various river crossings- we realized If something happened to our vehicle we would be all alone with no help. I would highly recommend going with multiple vehicles so that if anything happens you have someone to help you get out. We took a wrong turn at one point and went onto private property- which was the wrong way. You have to go through the wide crossing. Could not be done without 4 x 4.

I've been to most of the waterfalls here in Belize but none as Awesome as Davis Fall. One of the things i love the most is that its never crowded, you usually have the whole Fall to yourself. Just getting there is an experience with a high chance of seeing beautiful wildlife. Nature at its best!

If youre visiting Belize, this is a must see place. Located in the Stann Creek District, Davis Falls is the second largest water fall in Belize. To get to the waterfall is an adventure on its own. First you have to go through an 8 mile dirt road crossing several rivers and streams along the way, then you have a 30 minute hike through the Belizean rain forest before you finally reach the fall. You get to walk up to the fall and have the opportunity so swim in its nice refreshing waters at the base. Water is clean and safe to drink.
Things to note:
-Fly repellent is recommended
-Long pants and hiking shoes for the hike is also recommended
-To get to the waterfall you need a high 4x4 vehicle but during the rainy season going there on car is almost impossible. There is a tour company which offers tours to the location all year round tho.
-The hike isn't the easiest in the world
- getting there if you don't know the area may be difficult.
Davis falls is an amazing place and should definitely be considered by anyone who wants to travel to Belize and has an adventurous spirit

It’s a bit of a challenge to get to but well worth the effort.

Not sure how others have done it - the directions and signs are right off the 'freeway', but its a long and treacherous drive to the falls. Our midsize car wasn't up to the challenge and had to turn back...

When they say you need a 4WD believe they mean a LandCruiser or a tractor. Not any 4WD will do. The 8 mile drive in is on a dirt road, boulder strewn and at places deeply rutted. You need an undercarriage that can handle that. The road is NOT well marked and there are a few signs but not where you need them. Multiple roads turn into the jungle or orchards. We chose the one that was worn the most, but we're wrong more than once. You fjord the river six times in up to 6-8 inches of water and you need low gear to climb the embankments on the other side. By the way, there are few places to turn around if you chicken out. The jungle on each side is dense, so prepare for the inevitable scrapes to your paint. We were lucky enough to meet a teenager working with his family half way in, he helped us to the "parking area" which was really just the end of one of the orchard roads. When we started out on foot, we met some workers with machetes who said the walking trail was washed out and we took to the river. It took 45 minutes and clambering and jumping are necessary. Water shoes are a must. Once there, the 500 foot falls are beautiful with many swimming pools you can jump or dive in. My suggestion is don't try this unless 1. You have a guide with his truck. 2. If you use yours, be willing to void your insurance and paint job. 3. Realize there is NO cell service in the jungle. That being said, we made it and loved it and was one of the highlights of our trip. Good luck!

One of the best tours in regards to combine waterfalls, jungle, medicine trail, Eco, Green, Agro Tourism Adventure, a bit difficult to access but once you reach after a 1 1/2 hour hike the waterfall it's almost certain you will be there by yourself. Beautiful birding and relaxing spot far from any civilization.
