A very nice and convenient pier for sailors. Tie up your dinghy, pay a (very small) fee and your dinghy is safe for hours while you wander around.

Great place and area to pick up some local gifts and hang out with the locals. Also right near where the fishermen bring in their catch of the day. Placencia Village, at the very end of the 16 mile-long peninsula is a great cultural experience.

It's too bad they can't replace the shabby old wooden picnic tables with a couple of new ones. I don't think the outdoor showers worked either

The pier was our go to place everyday. Loved to sit and relax and enjoy the view. There was so much to see

Lots to do at the pier. Check out the boats at the Marina. Cruise the local shops or find a place to eat and have a cold drink. Good place to swim and relax at the beach as well. Talk to the friendly locals. Have fun.

On the pier there are a few vendors and some tour operators..
On the day we were there, it was slow. A cruise ship had just left the day before. We were there to see the fisherman’s day catch but were disappointed as we had arrived late and the fish were all gone.

Christmas Eve they have a big get together at the pier with music, boat parade and the Christmas parade ends there with Santa giving out toys to children in the village. It was quite a fun place to be

We walk up by the pier dozens of times a day. Check out the incoming fishing boats and outgoing adventure seekers. Play a game of chess on the picnic tables as you watch the dolphins. Grab a drink from the Frosty shack that has crazy coconuts and more.

If you want to really experience the beautiful nature of Plalencia, Harvest Cay, Belize and see the culture and what it really is, dont book your excursion on the ship or when you get off and see the signs for tours. Go to the desk and pay $25 round trip to the main land. From there I highly recommend Jeff Lopez. He does all the tours, but today he took me and and another couple I met to the water falls. He picked us an orange off the trees and it was delicious! We swam in the clear water falls and soaked up the nature. Never felt rushed or scared. He was awesome from start to finish! We stopped and looked at the iguanas and had a beer at the local bar with the native Belizians, not a tourist gimmick at all. He even picked us giant hibiscus for our hair and photo ops. Hi Sandy. I read your post and was hoping you could give me more information on the boat ride to the mainland. We're staying in Placencia in March and are interested in taking a tour but would prefer not to be on a tour group schedule.
When you took the boat from the Placencia Pier, where did it drop you off on the mainland? Did you need to book your guide in advance and what does he charge for his tours? I know that many of the tours require a fairly lengthy drive. When did you arrive at the mainland and how long was your tour?

We took a boat tour to the monkey river which is really on the mainland, but not to any town, just the jungle. The length was probably 30 min +\-. I hope this helps.

We will be traveling to Harvest Caye in January 2019. I am trying to work in an excursion to Monkey River, followed by an afternoon in Placencia, but nothing I've read says if there is an afternoon ferry offered from Harvest Caye? I'm just not sure if I should give up on the idea of going to the Monkey River - because I really don't want to miss Placencia! Can you help me?

Whatever you do, don't miss Placencia.... It's a wonderful, friendly, interesting village. Hot and dusty but well worth a visit. I was there for a week in April and loved it. I assume you're on a cruise if you're at Harvest Caye. As far as I know, the local boat operators are NOT allowed into or out of the caye, so you will need to arrange a day trip to Placencia via NCL. There's plenty to see and do there to occupy a full day. Bon voyage!
