From beginning to end this was the most amazing Tour ever. The interaction with us was Genuine and personal. They made sure if we had any questions they were there to answer them. I loved how they made sure to support local companies giving us a genuine Belize experience. Thank You Mr. Shal you are our personal guide, tell Vinny we said hello 😁

We wanted to do these activities in one day and Shal made it possible at the best price. His knowledge of all the site and mayan history was great and kept us entertained. We literally did nothing throughout the day other than enjoy the activities planned and also the Belizean lunch. Would recommend to anyone visiting Placencia

Abbiamo fatto 3 escursioni (ATM, Zip-Lines & rappelling e Xunantunich).
Florencio è stato super disponibile, premuroso e ci ha raccontato storie ed aneddoti del Belize. i luoghi visitati devono assolutamente essere visti se si va in Belize e consigliamo a tutti di scegliere Folorencio come giuda.

Shal was the most amazing guide! From the picking us at the Chabil Mar to a great history of Belize during the drive, the day could not have started better. His van was very comfortable and cool.
When we arrived at the park, we looked at the map and choose our route. The Ben’s Bluff hike was rewarded by an amazing view of Victoria Peak and Outlier. On the way back down, the dip in the mountain waterfall was AAAAAMAZING! So welcome after the hike up to the top.
From there, Shal treated us to a great lunch and sodas! After that it was time for a short walk to the river for some tubing.
Our family highly recommends Shal and his amazing services. Check him out in Placencia. He does lots of different tours and guessing they are all just as special.

Review of Ox Kawil Ahaw Tours
Reviewed today
This was my first experience in Belize and I enjoyed every moment of it. We stayed at Robert's Grove Beach Resort, Placencia, which was sheer perfection. The staff arranged a tour of the Mayan Ruins through Ox Kawil Ahaw Tours located in Placencia with Florencio Shal, owner, as our tour guide. The experience was phenomenal and Florencio is extremely knowledgeable of the Mayan culture and the ruins as well as being very personable. We stopped by Pablo's cacao farm on the way back from the ruins and ate a traditional Mayan dinner, toured the farm and made a chocolate bar by hand. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about Belize and the Mayan history and culture. Fantastic experience!

Shal provided an excellent trip. The van was spacious, clean, comfortable, and had great air conditioning. He proved his knowledge of the area and sites with a history of the local banana industry and details about Mayan culture. We stopped at a local restaurant with a buffet of delicious traditional Belizean food, where they frequently feed the archeologist that work at the sites. The owners sat and talked with us for a while and followed up our lunch with homemade ice cream. I recommend trying the sweet corn flavor.
We left at 8am and got back between 4- 5. $100 USD. Shal was friendly, low key, and professional. I would definitely recommend his services.

Today was our last day in Belize, and we desperately wanted to visit the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Preserve - but didn’t have the energy for the “extreme” tour that was offered through our hotel. Fortunately for us, someone knew of this wonderful “micro-tour” company, and Shal himself was available to take us.
He grew up near the park, and so knew the area intimately. Our “tour” included a national and local history lesson on the drive, hiking, and insights about the preserve’s flora and fauna. We tasted nuts, listened to the howler monkeys, and learned about the trees and birds. We topped it off with stops at the small visitor’s center, and at the farm near the entrance where we purchased their organic cacao powder. He’d happily have taken a more strenuous route had we wished it.
Shal is both knowledgeable and kind. We wish we’d discovered him earlier in our trip!

Shal is an exceptional guide -- knowledgeable, thoughtful, warm and funny. He guided my friend and I on a hike through the rainforest, telling us about what we were seeing and answering all of our questions. We enjoyed a tasty lunch of rice, chicken and coleslaw before heading off to tube down the Stann Creek. It was relaxing and beautiful looking up at the tree canopy above. Shal made sure to look up the name of a small shore bird I had asked about when we got back to the van. We had a great day thanks to Shal and we highly recommend him.

We went on two tours with Florencio Shal this past week. The first was to the Cockscomb National Park and he guided us through the jungle while teaching us about the flora and fauna there. Florencio is of Mayan background so he knows a fair amount about the area. He took us to a wonderful waterfall and made sure that he pointed out the safest way to walk on the rocks. We ate a great lunch and then we took the inner tubes down the river. Florencio knows the names of the birds in the area and we saw many thoughout the day. The next tour we went on was to see the Scarlet Macaws. That was wonderful! We woke up super early and he knew were to go to see the best vantage point. Maybe we got lucky but we saw about 50 Scarlet Macaws and Florencio said this was the most he's ever seen. It was great! Florencio's prices were fair. His van was comfortable and clean. We didn't have the cash on the 2nd tour so he told us we could pay him at his shop later that day. It all worked out. We would recommend him, definitely.
