The architecture is intriguing and worth a stop to see. The condition; however, is sadly derelict and badly in need of refreshing/remodel/cleaning.
We attended a marvelous Christmas celebration on 28 November: “Víspera de Navidad”. It was delightful and the music & dance were marvelous! The vocal soloists and the musical soloists were very talented. The dancers were a bit amateurish but fun.
General admission tickets were very inexpensive. The seats were great. It deserved standing ovation; the got it; we got two encores too...

Le centre culturel comporte plusieurs salles. Au Teatro de Camare Hugo Carrillo, j'ai assisté, le 24 octobre 2019, à un spectacle de danse donné, en 1ère partie (classique) par le "Ballet Nacional de Guatemala" et en seconde partie par le "Ballet Moderno Y Folklorico de Guatemala". Une belle soirée !

Great building and grounds. It looks like it hasn't been touched since the day it was built. It was designed by architect Efraín Recinos.

This is a must see place in Guatemala, though they not always having plays or concerts, just visiting the place is something you wont forget. They start this year with movies projections on a special wing of the National Theater called "La Sala de Cine". It's free and you get to see guatemalan movies and international ones to. This project is from tuesdays to sundays, sundays are special for kids and family. The only thing you must take account of, is thay because is free and there are limited seats (50-60 I think) you must get early. You can find all about the proyect in facebook. They have a nice coffee shop inside and souvenirs of the movies they play for supporting this proyect.

El ballet de la academia Unidanza realizo el cierre de actividades 2016 con una con un montaje espectacular, donde las alumnas y coreografas maestras demostraron todo lo aprendido en este año y donde mi sobrina fue participe, de la obra Alicia en el Pais de las Maravillas, felicitaciones por el montaje de la obra a Unidanza, y que utilicen para estas presentaciones el mas grande icono de la Cultura de la danza en Guatemala

Tuve oportunidad de visitar el centro cultural Miguel Angel Asturias el mes pasado para la presentación del Ballet moderno y folclorico de Guatemala en su teatro de cámara, es un complejo arquitectónico moderno que ofrece variedad de recintos para exhibir el arte, está muy bien ubicado, es muy amplio, cómodo y seguro, disfruté mucho de la presentación del Ballet.

This experience was nice as always, we went to see the show: midsummer night's dream from Shakespeare and this show was very very nice! We love it!!! The actors and the scenes were great!!! full recommended!!!

Una joya arquitectónica única en su género que ha sufrido depredación y mal mantenimiento por parte de su personal y sucesivas autoridades. Vale la pena visitarlo, en cualquier caso.
