Beautiful and very challenging golf course. The bermuda greens were very undulating and fast Overall it was in pretty good shape. I’d definitely go back.

It took some work, but we ended up having a great day.
To start off, booking was very difficult. The course doesn't have an online booking system. I recommend calling rather than going back and forth via email.
I had to call the day before to arrange for transportation as taxi options from our hotel were excessive. At the end, someone at the course helped me, making the arrangements, but this almost prevented us from going.
The surroundings of the course are stunning. Lots of elevated tees and undulating fairways. Great views, but no ocean-side holes. Golfing conditions were average. The fairways and greens are basically mud, with a thin layer of grass. Most shots, including drives, got plugged.
Scorecard doesn't have a great map and distances are questionable, so definitely bring a range finder.
Clubhouse is nice, but minimal. We golfed on a Wednesday in January and the cost was $63 USD for green fees (credit card), $35 USD for rental clubs (cash only), and another $60 USD (round trip) for taxi/shuttle from our resort (Infinity Bay) to the course.

The views are spectacular, the greens were in great shape, and each hole is unique . Pete Dye uses the terrain to make a challenging course and if the wind is blowing, is quite difficult. Also there is a island green like at Sawgrass no17 , a lot of fun.
The is a Top Golf style range hitting into the ocean - very cool!
Golf carts were fine (contrary to some old reviews) . We teed off at around 2 pm and had the course to ourselves., played in around 3 hr 15min.

This is an absolutely beautiful course, in really great condition. It is a world-class Pete Dye-designed course that you would never expect in Honduras! The course and resort are very well maintained, and the new management is adding new features all the time. When I was there, as many have mentioned, there were not many people around, but that was really a plus for me! The staff were super friendly and helpful, and had what you need to play a round of golf - and not much more. The Las Verandas restaurant is a short drive further in from the course if you want some good food and drinks after your round or even at the turn. You won't be disappointed there, either. You can just show up and pay your fee, or call ahead to make a reservation. Get there early if you want to avoid the heat of the day. If you need accommodations, the Pristine Bay resort has wonderful rooms and is also very well run - all under the same new management as the golf course, so they can help you get your golf set up, too.

Black Pearl is a great golf course.
It’s a little strange that there is no website, no ability to book tee times, and no one to really talk to to schedule tee times. I did contact Melissa (mdixon@pristinebay.hn), that is your best chance to communicate with someone. The Pristine Bay resort is amazing, beautiful facility with restaurant, bar, and pool….but there is no one there - no workers in the clubhouse, no patrons, nobody! No proshop, I just showed up and a bag drop guy took money ($127.50 american, I had my own clubs), put my bag on a cart and drove me to the first tee.
Course is in great shape, I did see a bunch of of ground crew members maintains the course. The greens were perfect. A few fairway traps had grass growing in them, and the sand is not great in most bunkers, that was the only negative of the course.
I play a lot of golf, this place is worth playing.

Diesen Course haben wir am 03.12.2022 mit Mein Schiff 1 gespielt. Anreise: perfekt.
Der Platz ist von „Blau“ ca. 6.000 m lang und in den Hügeln von Roatan eingebettet. Er befindet sich in einem absolut topp Zustand, besäumt von großen Privatvillen. Auf „Angriff“ spielen geht hier nicht! Defensive ist hier angesagt. Die Grüns sind stark modelliert.
Das Clubhaus verfügt über einen großen Pool.
Leider gibt es keinen Pro-Shop so dass keine Souvenirs Sweatshirts etc. gekauft werden können. Golfbälle kann man an der Rezeption kaufen.
Vom Restaurant gibt es einen tollen Blick aufs Meer

We stayed at a local villa that the owner had a membership with resort. We went on a Monday and course was closed, but they allowed us to play anyway. We had the entire course to ourselves and enjoyed the day. Staff was amazing!

Beautiful course in awesome shape; it is challenging but not crazy. Unfortunately, there was no refreshment cart or a place to get anything at the turn, so take lots of water if you are there in June, July or August; you will need it.

I’m sorry no one’s leaving reviews about this course because it’s on its way back. Not sure if the traps will but the greens are top notch, almost no ball marks ,fairway are improving from the last time I played Feb 2020
Reaching the course is difficult. Just show up it opens at 7am!

Course is terrible during rainy season. Essentially unplayable, fairways are so soaked you can't reasonably hit a single shot without getting drenched. By the end of what we decided to play (had to quit early because if the conditions) I think I had trench foot. Cart broke down and the rental clubs are not even decent anymore. It may be great during the dry season, but steer clear if any rain has fallen during the day.
If you do play, the attendants will sell you used balls for substantially cheaper at the first hole ($20/doz vs. $90 for a box of ProV1 in clubhouse). Every maintenance person also has a backpack full of found balls that they try to sell you also if you run out.
Bright spot, Hole 11 island green is cool.

Coming in on a Royal Caribbean Cruise. Looks like a 30 min drive from the port. Is it difficult to get a taxi to and from the course?

Hi coming to Roatan the third week of February 2024 with an NCL cruise. Wondering what kind of package for a day of golf you might offer. 18 holes with cart, clubs, balls, refreshments and transportation to and from the NCL Cruise ship. Please reply and hopefully we can make arrangements.

I believe it was around 65 for the clubs. But that may have been because we were guest of a member? But whatever the cost was worth it. Beautiful course.

My brother and I will be in Roatan on 3/27/23 and would like to play golf at Black Pearl, preferably at 1:15 to take advantage of the twilight rate. I don't see how to book at tee time on TripAdvisor.

When I was there, I just called. Roatan is not a golf destination, so I don't expect the course to be very busy.
