I’m sorry no one’s leaving reviews about this course because it’s on its way back. Not sure if the traps will but the greens are top notch, almost no ball marks ,fairway are improving from the last time I played Feb 2020
Reaching the course is difficult. Just show up it opens at 7am!
I will talk to Nate who runs the pro shop and do a follow up review with a phone#

Course is terrible during rainy season. Essentially unplayable, fairways are so soaked you can't reasonably hit a single shot without getting drenched. By the end of what we decided to play (had to quit early because if the conditions) I think I had trench foot. Cart broke down and the rental clubs are not even decent anymore. It may be great during the dry season, but steer clear if any rain has fallen during the day.
If you do play, the attendants will sell you used balls for substantially cheaper at the first hole ($20/doz vs. $90 for a box of ProV1 in clubhouse). Every maintenance person also has a backpack full of found balls that they try to sell you also if you run out.
Bright spot, Hole 11 island green is cool.

I have had the same experience as ladydygroutcolor. Royal Caribbean Cruise Line offered the Black Pearl golf course as an excursion, then they cancelled it without explanation and gave me a full refund. I have tried calling and trying to contact via email without success.

I have tried calling for five days, at least twice a day, on three different phone numbers. I have left messages when I could and no one has returned my call. I can only think that they are either out of business or want to go broke and close. I now understand why Carnival dropped the golf tour here.
I am not calling again, I will make other plans.

We were unable to get any response from the course via email or Whatsapp so the place we were staying in Roatan got in touch with them and set us up for a 10:30 t time for 100 pp.
The clubhouse and pro shop are very nice but basically closed. No food or drinks and the top notch pool is closed and basically everything is shut down. They have a fridge behind the check in desk and that’s it.
Two guys checked us in and went to get our rental clubs and cart and then we followed him to number one down a street then a muddy dirt path where we slid around a bit and finally to the tee box.
Having met Pete Dye in Edmond Oklahoma a few times and even bird hunted with him, I told my girlfriend he must be ashamed to have his name on this course but then you get to see it. It’s top notch and besides the rough and bunkers needing work, it’s in fabulous condition.
The tees are near perfect and the greens were a 10 out of 10 and rolling about 14 on the stimp meter. Possibly the best greens I have played this year and I play a few times every week.
The bunkers all have been taken over by grass and weeds but they are working on them and the rough needed mowed here and there but all in all, the course is in great shape. They have about a dozen guys working all over the course and working hard trying to get it in shape after COVID and hoping for more players and thus much needed cash. The driving range looks like it hasn’t been used in a year and is currently closed.
The guy that checked us in came and checked on us about every few holes and we even bought a dozen balls from him for 20 bucks and we needed them!!!
In typical Pete Dye fashion, this is a tough golf course. There is not a flat lie anywhere in the fairways and the greens are elevated and rolling all over the place. It reminds me of Pete’s Kiawah Island course or Oak Tree National in my hometown of Edmond. Two of the toughest courses on the planet.
This is a great golf course and I highly recommend it for anyone. Just don’t expect great service or drinks and lunch or dinner after the round or anything like you would normally expect at a top notch facility like this is.
They have been hit hard by COVID just like everyone else but they have kept the course in as good a shape as possible without any funds coming in since March and I think they have done a spectacular job keeping it in great shape and they are working hard on it every day.
They just need players so go play a great Pete Dye course and the 11th is a dead ringer for the island green at the stadium course. It’s a blast!!!

4 of us went golfing here, could not reach anybody via the website or the phone, so we just showed up, hoping we could get on. There was hardly anybody there and you would think they would be jumping to help you, not so much. Charged us all an exorbitant price to golf and then when we mentioned we had been here before, said "oh I could have given you a discount if I had known that" - no offer to do so after though!!! Rented carts, because you pretty much have to - one of the carts died at the start of the second hole, so the guys had to go back and get another one - again no offer of money back or anything. The course itself is in pretty good condition, but lots of dead spots and the sand traps are more like gravel pits. Really not worth the money, apparently they are having financing issues, etc - not sure what is going on, but they should shape up, especially since there is now another course to golf at (all be it a crazy little 9 hole, but none the less). Don't believe we will return unless some serious changes are made.

Stayed at Villa 104. Closest to beach, about 75 feet. Beach raked and smoked every morning. Do not know of anyone who has been able to avoid the "noseeims" tiny flying or not insects that if one lands on you it leaves a mark and may itch. Did some snorkeling and saw lots of fish, Star fish, coral, a manta ray hovered closed to me in the water about 40 feet from shore, Saw lobsters in the rocks near the dock on the left, a playful crab near the beach and built a reef over a stone block about 15 feet out and near the middle of the beach in the whit sand. It looked pretty good and I think it should last. It had a resident crab on the 2nd day of the build. The night sky is spectacular. Nothing to do there at night but walk around. There were 4 stray dogs on the beach a couple of nights. Hope security takes care of this. There are 3 tan coloured cats there. We did not feed them so they tended to leave us alone. Great place to go and unwind with friends. Security 24/7. The drive into Pristine is intense. We tried to walk out one day and only got 1/2 way. Really steep hills. Incredible view from the missing I Love Rotan sign platform. The entire property is under Bank control so not as pristine as it was or will be again in the future. No one bothers you there. Everyone is friendly. Food costs at the Roatan eateries is expensive for this domain so if you have a kitchen then buy a whole tenderloin, cut it up and refrigerate... The sauces at the restaurants are very good and that is maybe the only difference. Temporary Cals Cantina was a regular stop for us. Great view. Excellent service. Outstanding food. So for a relaxing getaway Pristine Bay may be your hideaway. The golf course is almost vacant but well kept except for the bunkers. You need to get a rake somewhere or play off hardpan in the traps. This course is a change so bring lots of balls. It even has an island green par 3. Good luck with those pesky little bugs near the beaches.

We opted to play golf at Black Pearl rather than a regular excursion while in port for the day. Taxi was $75 USD from Coxen port to course. Was told the driving range was closed (without any explanation). When we examined our receipt, we saw that there was a 20% tip automatically added to our green fees and club rentals ($125+25 x 2 = $300 USD). When we got our golf cart, a guy jumped on and acted as if he had been assigned to us as a caddy. That wasn't the case. He was freelancing and selling golf balls, but we accepted him at $25 USD/person. It's a good thing we did. He was very helpful in guiding us through the course as it is laid out rather strangely. We enjoyed his guidance on the greens and keeping track of our balls. It's a hard course and my husband did need to buy more balls from him. Good thing he was there as the pro shop was non-existent so we couldn't have purchased balls there.
According to our "caddy", the pro and greens keeper had both quit to start their own golf course. Thank goodness we didn't spend much time in the sand as there were no rakes at any of the traps. It was amazing the course was in decent shape considering no greens keeper.
Would we recommend this course? Maybe -- but only if they get their act together, open pro shop & driving range AND ELIMINATE THE 20% TIP! It's a very challenging course with beautiful views.
The cart was old and no GPS but ran okay. We were told not to stop to get food/drink but to call and it would be delivered to us. Hmm, there was no information on the cart so we could do that. Luckily a drink cart came by and he gave us a menu, took our order, then brought us our food.
Bottomline -- the management and organization of this course needs great improvement.

We took a taxi from the cruise ship. There are many taxi’s outside the the port. Remember to barter with them on the price, they will go much lower than the first offer. The course was awesome, it was expensive, so we really had the course to ourselves. We took two caddies, the were great the front nine and the back nine, they wanted us to buy them lunch and drinks...that was a first for us. Overall great day!

A fun course to play while on the island. We were here for a week and had no problems booking through the website. The course is about 45 minutes by car from the West End. Use a caddie because the holes are hard to navigate between green and the next tee box and the suggestions of Jason were helpful. The pro shop is missing an opportunity with very limited merchandise. There are no ladies shirts. Be aware of the little ants on the course - my husband got attacked while around the green on the front nine and 2 days later still has blisters on his feet from the ants. No one told us to watch for small mounds of dirt. The food at the restaurant is fine, but nothing to get excited about. The views of the property and ocean from the bar/restaurant are worth a stop.

We will be coming on a cruise ship in July and wondered if we would be able to take transportation from the cruise ship without booking the excursion while making our own tee time. What is the distance from the port to the course and about how much would a taxi cost?

Wondering why this question was never answered and if could be answered now? Did things work out?
wanted to know if you can get off cruise ship and get taxi on your own no excursion and go to course and pay green fee and cart rental for 9 holes

I believe that is OK, however I booked my round through the resort I was staying at. But, I don't think it's a private course..
so you should be able to call, reserve a tee time, and play if paying on your own.
