Captain Winston agreed to take us to Palmetto.
Originally agreed to $150 for 2 people for 2-3 hours but ended up at $200 as we bought 4 people which was a fair deal.
Asked for money for fuel up front (strike one) I said no.
His son and deckhand climbed aboard and his son immediately lit up a joint (strike two).
Headed out to Palmetto and about half the way back Captain Winston started to get frantic and indicated we needed to stop for more fuel and that I needed to pay for the fuel (strike three). I said no.
Since we were close to our residence which had a dock I said we could end the trip there and Captain Winston agreed. I told Captain Winston that since we only did three quarters of a trip I would only pay him three quarters of the money. He responded by acting very unprofessional and since I was with company and didn’t want to make a scene I just paid him the whole amount.
Moral of the story: chose another vendor. There are plenty of reputable vendors on Roatan just chose someone else.

All around the world it is customary to put down a deposit when booking an excursion, often non-refundable. The practical use of this deposit is gas money. You refused.
You booked a trip at $75 per person, and then showed up with twice as many people. Wanting a discount.
The smoking of the joint was wrong and has been dealt with. Teenagers, right? My apologies.
When told you were going to run out of gas and he needed the money you owed him to pay for said gas, you decided to end your trip, and again wanted a discount.
This boat has twin Yamaha 115’s and burns about a gallon a mile. Your round trip to Palmetto used about $70 in fuel alone.
Moral of the story? Some people get the trip they deserve.

We had a great snorkeling trip with Captain Winston. He was great at pointing out different areas and chose a great lunch spot.

We adore Winston and his family! Our first trip to Roatan was in '19, and we took our second trip in July '22. In '19, Winston was recommended to us by our Airbnb manager, and we had the BEST time with him over the course of about 4 days. Not only did he take us snorkeling to the Blue Channel, Starfish Alley, two shipwrecks, and other spots, we also spent a day with him exploring Cayos Cochinos. We enjoyed lunch together a couple of days, as well as beers on our patio, and we literally spent the next 3 years talking about our time with him.
When we decided to get married on Utila this summer, we knew we had to make time to go back to Roatan and allow our family and friends the opportunity to meet and explore with Winston. Again, we spent another 5 days with him and our family and friends got to experience the best of Roatan from the water. One of our favorite experiences during this trip was when Winston and his cousin, Ronnie, took 8 of us out to Pigeon Cay, a small private island, for the day. We HIGHLY recommend doing this! Everyone truly had the most memorable and unforgettable experience that they say they will remember and talk about for the rest of their lives.
What we love about Winston the most is the type of person he is, his knowledge of the waters and reef, and how he makes a conscious effort to truly show you the island as you go from snorkel site to snorkel site. He's such a genuine person with a sincere appreciation for Roatan and the tourists that visit it. We always felt extremely safe with him; he accommodated any request we had and never made us feel rushed. In 2019, we met his son, and this summer we saw his son again, and met his wife, two daughters, and cousin, Ronnie. Ronnie came out snorkeling with us several times, as well as to dinner, and even took a few of us night snorkeling, which was incredible and one of the coolest things we've ever done. A lot like Winston, Ronnie also was a pleasure to be around, funny, and super safety-oriented.
Whether out snorkeling, sharing a meal, enjoying a sunset, or talking about the deeper sides of life, every minute we spent with Winston, Ronnie, and/or his family is greatly valued and treasured by us. They're the most humble, grateful, and appreciative locals we've ever met when traveling, and we truly consider them our family!

Captain Winston took us to an amazing spot where we could see star fish. When we arrived, the water was so clear, you could see the star fish on the ocean floor.
Definitely recommending! 5/5! (And I will have to do it again next time I'm there)

What an amazing experience for the entire family! We did the full island tour and literally saw it all. Snorkeling throughout various reefs we saw spotted manta rays, lobster, an assortment of conch, and beautiful colorful fish! We saw dolphins being trained and white tigers along the way. We also handled some amazing natural Jade on the beach. Captain Winston was the best tour guide and D.J. Can't wait to go back and do it again! Best tour in Roatan for sure ❤

I spent the day for my 37th birthday in this glorious boat for a tour that went all the way around the island. We did spectacular snorkeling, spotted an incredible spotted stingray. The beach we stopped at (Jade Beach) was nothing short of breathtaking. Winston and crew were very sweet and always helped my clumsy ass on and off the boat. We stopped for an amazing lunch of fish, rice and beans, coleslaw and plantains! Delicious! It was an amazing experience and would do it all over again. Highly recommended!!!

We booked with Capt. Winston for some early morning fishing and had such a wonderful time that we booked him again for another day to go snorkeling. He was very patient with my kids for their first time fishing and he helped them catch some tuna and barracuda. The boat ride tour around the island and snorkeling was fantastic. He took us to a little remote location in a fishing village for a late lunch and had an amazing meal.

So glad you and the kiddos enjoyed the trip to Jade Beach. Hopefully the next trip the winds will be more favorable for a trip to Cayos Cochinos!

My parents and I booked a snorkel tour with Winston roughly two weeks ago and he was going super fast and there were big waves. He slammed on the break and hit a wave so hard that he sent my mom and I flying in the air and he FRACTURED my mom’s tailbone. I also have extreme back pain. He ruined our whole vacation causing us to lay in bed in excruciating pain. Please avoid this company. I do not want anyone else to experience this pain.

Pisó el freno y golpeó una ola tan fuerte que mi mamá y yo volábamos por el aire y SE FRACTURÓ el coxis de mi mamá. También tengo un dolor de espalda extremo. Arruinó todas nuestras vacaciones nos quedábamos en la cama con un dolor insoportable. Por favor, evite esta empresa. No quiero que nadie más experimente este dolor.

Madam,
After speaking with your mother, and the captain, it is understood that the wake you experienced was not from the water kicked up from our boat but from a fast oncoming boat. The understanding is that our captain had to pull off the throttle very quickly at the oncoming week. Speed is subjective on the water, and we have a lot of positive reviews concerning our captain and their experiences. I spoke at length with your mother, asked if there was anything that we could do for her, sent her a comfort package in the mail, and counseled our captain in the case that he was going too fast for conditions. He assures us that he was not, and had to come to a quick stop in order to avoid oncoming week from a speeding boat.. It’s also my understanding that you and your family had a fantastic time snorkeling and swimming the next day, so I am left in amazement that this would be such a scathing review . We wish you well and all of your endeavors, and hope that you are feeling better soon, but then again we’re comforted at the fact that you were out swimming and snorkeling and enjoying the island the very next day after your trip on our boat. Again I reached out to your mother, made sure that she was recovering from hitting the wake, and she reassured me that she was. I cannot do anything about your rating on TripAdvisor and I know that people across the world count on it before they make the decision , and we are always here to answer any questions regarding our trips, and as you can see 99% of the people that have experienced trips with us have had a great time. I am continuing to be here to listen to you, have taken seriously your mother‘s input , spoken to our captain, and I’m comfortable knowing that we do the best thing to ensure our customer safety.

Avoid this company like the plague. Winston put my girlfriend and I in harms way just to make a buck. Absolute scammer and lier. We took the most rough and dangerous boat ride on a route that evidently he knew would be this way. The only other boat we saw on our route was a cruise ship.
It took us about one hour longer than we were told it would take to get to our destination. When we finally made it I nearly kissed the solid ground. Once we told him that 3 other captains were shocked that we took the route there (and the route he intended on taking back despite 3 times telling us there was another route, which obviously there wasn’t) we told him we were not comfortable and will not do it. We attempted to settle up and he had a fit. We paid for the gas up front and had to walk all the way to the gas station with him. He then proceeded to get driven back while we had to walk back again. Based off his dishonesty I would imagine the majority of that gas did not end up in the boat for us.
He also told me he would “beat my ass” if I came back. Very hospitable! There is a reason they have so few reviews. Nearly everyone on Roatan is nice and there are many other options out there. Seek them.

This was our third trip to the island and the third different boat/crew we've booked with for a day on the water. This was by far my favorite! We booked an all day excursion with Captain Winston and his cousin, Mr. Ronnie, on January 19, 2022. We had THE BEST day. We spent the morning fishing and caught a few tuna and barracudas. We also went snorkeling and Mr. Ronnie jumped in the water with us. We were able to see a very large eagle ray and nurse shark along with all of the other beautiful fish and star fish. We had the privilege of having lunch prepared by Mr. Ronnie's cousin in Santa Elena. I'm sad I can't remember her name but it was the best meal we had the entire time we were on the island - fresh lion fish, lobster, rice and beans, plantains, coleslaw... Captain Winston and Mr. Ronnie were extremely generous with their time and shared their knowledge of the area. I'm looking forward to spending a day on the water with them in the future. I can't say enough great things about both men and the wonderful day we had!
