What a staff!! Everyone went out of their way to help us make the most of our short stay in Athens. Got my walking tour maps and lots of “insider” tips of what to do along the way.

The folks working there were very courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. They had better city maps than our hotel. I suggest the riding tour; it's worth it. They have clean public restrooms on the property. Caution: the parking area is small; but, it's negotiable

If you are looking to begin your visit to Athens, Georgia, and Georgia's historic Antebellum Trail, this is the place to start--the Historic Athens Welcome Center in Athens. Located at 280 East Dougherty Street, at the intersection of East Dougherty and North Thomas Street, it opened in 1973 and is housed in the historic 1820 Church-Waddel-Brumby House in downtown Athens. Open from 10 to 5 daily, you can explore the Church-Waddel-Brumby House, the oldest surviving residence in Athens which is furnished in period antiques and furniture, obtain information on local hotels, restaurants, shops and current events and find brochures and maps for the entire state. Plan a trip anywhere throughout Georgia, particularly the Antebellum Trail that stretches from Athens to Madison to Milledgeville to Macon. Arrange for guided tours, Historic Athens Walking Tours, Classic City Tours and shuttle tours. Visit the gift shop for books, souvenirs and information on local history. Obtain a local ceramics and pottery information packet. The local staff is very knowledgeable and eager to answer questions, make recommendations and help prepare travel plans.

Whether you are interested in the history of the city or just to get a football fix, the Athens Welcome Center is a great place to start one's introduction to the city. The knowledgeable staff is happy to answer all questions and can make any tourist into a local with ease. The center is also housed in a beautiful historic home which is definitely worth touring as well. The center also includes a very nice gift shop with lots of unique gifts and keepsakes.

Beautifully restored fine simple home beautiful faux finished surfaces and a knowelgable staff to help you on all up to date information and happening in Athens. Not a stoggy place.

The welcome Center is located in the Church-Waddel-Brumby House in downtown Athens. The home was built around 1820 and has been furnished with period furniture. Definitely worth a look-see. We just happened to stumble upon the house (we were lost) and found a delightful hostess there who told us about the house as well as printed some maps for us as we continued our trip. We learned that the town itself would be a delightful place to visit at a later date.

The staff was very helpful in guiding us to all the ins and outside of the ATH. They had all the info you need and are conveniently located downtown among shops and restaurants.

Downtown Athens is a great place to shop, eat and site see. Teenagers especially will love the downtown attractions.

If you are new to Athens, start here! Lots of great information on what can be found in Athens. Remember to ask someone about all the different "neighborhoods" since folks give directions by referencing these and you'll be lost otherwise ;-)

I went here mostly for brochures of things to do in Athens. They have a LOT of brochures that include all of Georgia, and events that I wouldn't have found on the internet. There is a small gift shop with some Georgia/Athens books and other things. The woman working there was very nice and helpful (but not pushy which is great). She let us walk around the visitor center house which is a neat piece of history. The gardens outside are nice too.
