Actually nothing special, except when Dawgs play. Athen is center of UGA, and everything is based on it. Restorants and few shops. Only one market...

Along Broad and the side streets off College are a smattering of stores and restaurants. Be sure to work your way over to Washington Street; just follow the students for great places to eat and imbibe.

We love the diversity of businesses here and the ability for non-students to have a fun time! The p pandemic shut down she of our faves, but Athens lives on! Go Dawgs and Go Athens!

A great collection of businesses and restaurants. Highly recommend checking it out. Many businesses were upstairs or had stairs inside of them so not all of them are available to patrons with mobility concerns. Some businesses had mask requirements.

A lot of construction going on in 2022, but an amazing selection of food choices and unique shops. Check out Jinya Ramen Bar and Dynamite Vintage Shop.

We just didn't find the downtown area very appealing. We walked several blocks looking for things that interested us, but we didn't find much at all. Parking is not easy to find either. Others may have a better experience that we did. I hope you do.

I would avoid downtown Athens at this point. Welcome Center closed. Dine-in at best restaurants? Closed. City Hall? Closed.

Does anyone know of a website where I can find a walking map of downtown Athens shopping, or can you suggest a walking itinerary from the Graduate Athens into downtown for shopping (boutiques and clothing for college kids, etc.)? Thanks!

I am not sure where you can get a map of the downtown area but it is a small area to cover. It is right off of the campus and there are many shops and restaurants close together within a three or 4 block area. I am sure one or more of them might have a map or point you in the right direction. We have always just winged it and had a great time.
