My family and I were not only entertained on the tour but also educated. Our tour guide, Nathan, did a wonderful job. The tour was interesting despite not being able to go to all of the places in the Volcanoes National Park. We were looking forward to the lava tubes but they were closed due to last year’s lava flow.
Nathan, our guide, did a fantastic job! He was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. When we asked our two teenagers what they liked about today, Nathan was the first choice of the older and second choice of the younger (coming in after walking on the lava field of over 400 million cubic yards of lava).
Thank you for the memories.

Took a tour from our cruise ship - we had the amazing Amanda. So friendly, so knowledgeable and soooo much fun.
We started with the Kona coffee mill (good coffee) then lunch at the Volcano arts center (quirky) a walk around the botanic gardens (lovely). Finally a trip to the big island candy store!
Amanda gave us a great history of the island and some amazing stories of the current lava flows.
I cannot recommend this tour enough and in particular Amanda who was awesome!!!!!

Aloha! Thank you so much for taking the time to write about our new tour, Tastes & Falls of Hawai'i. We are currently running this aboard the ships as the park is still closed due to the lava eruption, but our guests are loving it. Could have done all this without spending the money. One good guide and another very mediocre. Had to spend the day with a woman wearing a MAGA hat and spewing her support for the current US President. The one good guide really got into it with her which I was glad for but not what I wanted on my vacation.

I consider this a love letter to Nui Pohaku; we brought a group of 14 teacher candidates to Oahu and the Big Island to tour cultural sites, visit schools, and get to see why Hawaii is such an amazing place over the course of two weeks, right in the middle of incredibly busy volcanic activity on the Big Island. NOT ONLY did Nui Pohaku provide some of the best service imaginable, but they did it in the face of the tragedy unfolding down in the Puna District of the Big Island, which personally involved members of this company. They suggested changes to our itinerary (which originally involved many sites in the area affected by the lava flow) to keep everyone safe, and we had the most marvelous time and got to visit truly “insider” places. We always felt safe, and trusted this company which knows the Big Island so well. Whether your group is big or small, Nui Pohaku is a special team of people who treat you as Ohana, and we are grateful and humbled by their care for us. Mahalo!

We booked this tour through Carnival Cruises and are so glad we did! What an amazing time we had!! We visited the Kilauea Caldera viewing center before heading off on our bike trip through Volcanoes National Park, stopping at several points, including the Nahuku (Thurston) Lava Tube and the 1973 Lava Flow. We were fortunate enough to be there just days before the current eruption (though not at the same location) so that was an added bonus. Our guides, Dorian and Derek were not only very knowledgeable but also quite entertaining! If you're looking for something active to do, I would definitely recommend this company.

I had an excellent time with Nui Pohaku on their Volcano and Lava bike tour! Biking to all the most interesting parts of the park is a great alternative to driving around. I enjoyed getting to know the four deeply knowledgeable guides who provided all the necessary equipment and taught us all about the volcanoes, history, and culture of the island. Amanda, Nate, Tom, and Derick, thank you for being so hulpful, fun, and fascinating!

Three of us joined five other people for this tour. They picked us up at 3 different locations. We were picked up from the Keahou Shopping Centre. I don't like big tour groups so this tour company meets my needs. We had 3 different excellent guides throughout the tour that started at 8 AM and ended at 12:30 AM. They were all very knowledgeable and thoughtful. Thank you David, Amanda and Chelsea!
Our first stop was the Punulu'u bake shop to pick up our lunch and stretch our legs. We tried malasadas, a Portugese doughnut from the bakeshop, toured the gardens and went to a market across the street.
Our next stop was the National Volcano National Park for lunch and then to the Kilauea Visitor Centre. It was cloudy when we arrived but it cleared up to give us an awesome view. One of the park rangers said she hadn't seen it this clear for a year. We did a couple of short walks including the Thurston lava tube.
Then it was down to the Kaimu Black Sand beach and farmer's market where Chelsea picked up our dinner. We ate a yummy dinner in a covered canopy area close to the farmer's market. We drove to the end of the road to view the crater but it was only a small red light on the side of the crater. Fortunately, we were driven back to the Kilauea Visitor Centre for another amazing show of bubbling lava. We all agreed that this was worth the extra time.
Make sure you dress in layers because we had rain, sun, heat and cold on the tour.

This was quite the enjoyable tour. The "taste" part was a visit to a coffee plantation and a candy/chocolate company. The people at the coffee location provided a picnic lunch of wraps, potato salad and fruit which was all delicious. The volcano part was a visit to Volcano National Park. We went to the visitor's center with views into the crater, walked into a lava tube, explored a lava field, and experienced where the steam is coming out of the ground (incredible). We had the added bonus of stopping at an art gallery where the artists are Hawaiian. Being able to see GOOD art from local people is a treat!
Our guide was Amanda and she really made a good day an outstanding one. She was professional but very personable and told interesting stories about her own experiences on the island. She is a scientist by training and it showed in her enthusiasm and ability to communicate about the volcanos and vegetation on the island.

We had a wonderful day in Volcanoes with our guides - they thought of everything (even, thankfully, raincoats). Nice lunch, helpful and informative guides, good bikes and more. Highly recommend, Mahalo guys!

Thank you so much for writing such a nice review! We have definitely had our share of rain here in the islands this year. We are out of drought status on the east side of the Big Island now. :) But when you are on vacation, it makes it interesting! So, yes, we keep umbrellas and water resistant jackets available so we can play in the rain! Thanks again for taking the time to write and we hope to see you again one day! Mahalo!

This was a great tour that I booked off Princess Cruise excursions! The tour group was small and accommodations were nice. Our tour guide Kirk was great! In fact at several stops people would stop and listen to him speak about the sights! We experienced the volcano and lava tubes and Kirk was knowledgeable and entertaining when explaining the history and science of the volcanos. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody wanting to visit the Volcano National Park.
