The best breakfast I have ever had! A few courses of absolute perfection.
The staff are absolutely amazing.
Coffee selection is great!
No bookings and it fills up very fast, so make sure to go early!

The cafe was really nice the choice of coffees amazing. However, I was charged twice for the coffee and cakes we had which I noted when I was looking at my bank transactions when I got back to my hotel. We went back to the coffee house to query and they stated only one transaction had gone through. Strange!!!!! No it’s quite common here in Marakesh as I found out when I spoke with some other guests here at the hotel who have had the same thing happen to them. I have contacted my bank with all the details. The lady at the cafe said the transaction will be credited back to my account bewteeen 5-7 days - we shall see. My bank has confirmed they will dispute the transaction on my behalf if it goes through!!!!!!!!! Not what I expected from what appeared to be a reputable establishment but I am learning this is just what Marrakesh is like!!!!!!!!!! Beware!

Wonderful surroundings and the coffee was awesome. Worth a visit on Wed or Friday 10am as its quieter and free for those under 17/students with ID cards.

Dar El Bach is an old residence of a Pasha - a wonderful building with beautiful gardens. But be aware that:
- you only have access to a small part of the property
- the museum has very few items
- the café is unwelcoming (it is listed in TripAdvisor as a restaurant, but you have to pay the fee to enter Dar El Bacha to get to the café)
If you set your expectations, it is still worth a visit.

Personally, I think this is a great place to visit as a warm-up to other medina sights, because the museum is small enough to not overwhelm but its collection is diverse enough to give you an overview of local art and culture. Architecturally, it's a near-perfect representation of the riad palace style, which you can then appreciate in different ways at the Bahia Palace, the Jardin Secret, or your local riad hotel, etc.
When we visited, the museum's rooms were mostly exhibiting a collection of artifacts from the country's other museums currently under restoration, particularly the Dar Batha Museum in Fez. It included some of the Qarawiyyin Mosque's original bronze door coverings, some painted pottery from Fez, a Qur'an copied by an Almohad (13th-century) caliph, and objects from Moroccan Jewish communities. I read that the exhibits change from time to time, so I imagine these will change too in the future.
There are good bathrooms inside. We had to skip the very popular (and expensive) café because the waitlist was an hour long, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's very busy most of the time; you could try leaving your name there first when you enter and then visiting the museum while you wait.

It’s worth to visit this cafe even entrance fee required. We went there at around 3pm. No queue and not many people. Waiter was nice and gave us recommendations (too many choices). We ordered cakes as well. We did enjoy our coffee and cakes there. Almost all coffee are at same price. Reasonable with that environment.

Do you need special permission to get engaged here? Is it busy during the week? I’d like to pop the question without people in the background of there photos.
Thanks!

Hi John
I don’t know for certain whether you need special permission to get engaged here but I would be surprised if you do.
I believe the palace and cafe are open daily from 10am - 6pm except Tuesdays
This is a popular place and for good reason. I was lucky, the first time I visited it was fairly quiet but unfortunately you cannot guarantee this.
I was there again last week and there was a 2hr booking system for the cafe. I was informed the best time to visit was at 10am.
What I will say is that the staff working here are all really helpful and friendly and I feel sure if you contacted them in advance with your plans, they would do their best to help you and bring them to life. They speak English.
The palace and the coffee shop are really beautiful. The architecture of the building is amazing and I can see why you would want such a special occasion to take place here. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Good luck with it all

Bonjour,
Cordialement
