Run by corrupt officials - quite ironic and tainting an otherwise touching tribute. A man (Abdul - working at around 4pm on Sunday 27th august) followed me to point out the order of reading the posters with clear numbering. Anyone who can read them, will likely know how to count to 15. And at the end asked me to follow him to the room with the guest book away from others and asked for a tip. I said no and then he said a “donation” was compulsory. I said no and he got aggressive. I had to borrow money to pay him and then asked where the donation box was. He said I should just hand it to him. Doubt it made its way to a donation box.
The tribute itself was small and worth a look but it tarnishes their memory when people like this use it as a way to scam tourists and pocket money

A simply place but important.
Belgian UN Peacekeepers were deliberately murdered to provoke the UN to remove their troops. The Genocide proceeded without any chance to intervention for 100 days.

A short walk from the center of town, this hidden memorial site is well worth the visit. Horrific account of the Genocide and commemorating the attack on the Belgium soldiers at the early start of the genocide.

The memorial shows the dark history of Rwanda and belgian soldiers that were killed here. Its very sad that it happened to the UN peace keepers and we should work on promoting love over hate

A very moving site where 10 Belgian commandos were butchered by the genocidal mob. Entry is free and there's a guide who will show you the rooms and placards to read. There's a screening point and armed guards in place to stand watch which is nice in showing solidarity with the 10 brave men who died here in 1994 when the killing started. Not a place to bring small kids.
The building has been left as it was in 1994 when the 10 Belgian soldiers were disarmed and brought here while Hutu commanders decided what to do. After the mob set upon them, several of the Belgian soldiers were able to fight back, retrieve some weapons and retreat into the building you see/walk through. The placards speak to these young mens' lives and who they were. You will also see damage to the interior walls from where fragmentation grenades exploded. A terrible end, but is it uplifting to know that their heroic last stand delayed the mob from setting upon innocent civilians trying to escape very closeby, they managed to kill several of the mob trying to murder them.

Camp Kigali , I have read about genocide of April 1994 in Rwanda.
From Hotel Rwanda to UN Peacekeeping Missions to stop the genocide, what triggered the genocide is what is important.
ten Belgian UN peacekeepers were murdered by the Hutu extremists in order to provoke a withdrawal of the UN forces, which then cleared the way for the full scale of the Rwandan genocide to unfold.

This covers the first few hours of the genocide and how things unfolded. I highly recommend visiting Camp Kigali since this is where the killing of the peacekeepers and Prime Minister happened. The bullet holes seen in the photo's are real.
There is a different, a more visceral, feel than the Genocide museum.
This is a small site so how much time you spend is up to you.
We were there for over an hour.

Le génocide aest très présent dans la mémoire des gens et ce mémorial a été très bien organisé pour nous faire comprendre ce qui c'est passé. Beaucoup de témoignages video qui montrent que cette événement n'est pas ancien. A voir absolument
