With 1853m at the highest point Mount Kigali offers nice views of its surroundings. The location is just west of central Kigali.
I walked from the Onatracom mosque in Nyamirambo to Fazenda Sengha (recreational area 4.000 RF entry fee). From there I walked partly back to pick up a dirt road on the west flank of the hill. Eventually it will lead you to Nyabugogo Taxi Park (central bus terminal) towards the north. It took me about 3 and a half hours.
Used Googlemaps on my phone to find the way. The GPS signal was sometimes very weak and people along the way mostly speak Kinyarwanda only. Moreover, for most locals the route I chose does not make sense, as hiking is not their thing. Anyway to find the sometimes muddy road/trail is not too problematic.
Though most of the hillsides are inhabited and there are traces of human activity almost anywhere, my hike was pleasant about half of the time mostly because of the views. The walk uphill along a busy highway from Nyamirambo to Fazenda was rather unpleasant (the last part to Fazenda is a dusty dirt road).

Place was awesome to see all Kigali at once. Walking the trails was good and the pine forest planted there made a cool place to read a book or relax.

Ik zou het een mini-pretpark durven noemen : het aantal attracties is beperkt. De kinderen (11 en 13 jaar) hebben zich heel goed geamuseerd. Het personeel is vriendelijk en geduldig.
Goedkoop is het niet, daardoor (?) waren er weinig bezoekers.

Merci Patrick pour ces moments mémorables. Nous avons non seulement fait un treck et un safari et nous avons eu une experience inégalable et inoubliable de la vie d'un village de montagne au Rwanda. Nous avons traversé des villages, participé à une messe et compris ce que ce pays peut nous apporter qui nous aide a comprendre ce qu'est la vie dans ce merveilleux pays. Les Rwandais sont gentils et accueillants. C'est un pays très safe. Patrick a su nous montrer son pays avec professionnalisme et gentillesse! Nous avons eu un accompagnement hors du commun avec un service à la carte.

Ce n'est pas juste un magnifique treck mais également une immersion dans la vie au Rwanda. En effet on traverse des villages qui nous aide a comprendre plus la vie dans ce merveilleux pays. Patrick le guide est vraiment top toujours prêt a nous montrer plus passionné par la vie de son pays. Nous étions deux copines ensemble et nous nous sommes vraiment senti en toute sécurité. Merci Patrick pour ce moment hors du temps. Nous avons aussi visité un centre de femme avec lui à kigali très très chouette

Great hike at Mt.Kigali and horse riding there. It was indeed visiting this place and overlooking Kigali on top of it. Highly recommended

Got to try two levels of zip-lining and quad biking. Super safe and exciting!
They also have horses to ride but more like going round on the horse. There’s also a trampoline for people who want to do cardio but also want to feel like a child

가이드가 멋진 포토존이라며 데려간 키갈리언덕. 제일 높다더니 진짜 아래가 다 보인다. 천개의 언덕이란 말이 실감난다. 그런데 사실 난 가는길도 상점이랑 차로 지나가면서 구경해서 더 좋았다.

The mount kigali is a small hill compared to other mountains. But when you are staying in kigali and want to flee the nice and the dirt it's definitely worth a trip up to the top

Can one hike on Mount Kigali on a Sunday?
What are thé main attractions besides hiking - e.g. I heard we could do horses?

Yes you may hike on Mt Kigali on Sunday. I also heard that there are horses in the area that you can ride but I do not know if this is true. My guide, Patrick, would probably know. His contact information is in the review of Mt Kigali that I wrote on Trip Advisor. Good luck and have fun!
