Ce musée mérite le détour. En effet, il présente des pièces à la fois rares et d'origines variées. Les explications du guide sont limpides et l'usage des objets bien expliqué. Les coutumes sont très intéressantes et on peut ainsi remarquer que les mythologies des divers continents possèdent des constantes.

Excellent collection of African art in a setting that allowed easy access tor the pieces. The guide was able to share information in English and the indoor/outdoor setting made for a relaxed milieu for viewing, resting and contemplating the art

Il museo è piccolo e vi si accede con una piccola cifra.
In tre stanze non tanto spaziose sono ammassati preziosi reperti dell'arte africane alcuni di certo risalenti a diversi secoli addietro.
È difficile districarsi in mezzo ad essi e capirne realmente valore e provenienza.
Maschere di ogni tipo,tamburi e oggettistica di ogni genere sono lì raccolti ad opera di un mecenate ora scomparso.
Ma sebbene di dimensioni strutturali ridotte esso presenta tutto il fascino dell'arte africana dei secoli scorsi.
Visitarlo è senz'altro utile per respirare le usanze di popoli che hanno scritto pagine importanti della storia e della cultura africana.

A wealth of material, but mostly 2nd and 3rd rate- organized by a Chinese collector who seems to leave at the rear next to his hotel- a bit odd.

Pari huonetta. Käynnin aikana ei englantia taitavaa opasta paikalla.
Google mapsin sijainti kartassa oikea. Muuttanut jossain vaiheessa nimeään.
Valokuvaus mahdollinen ulkona mutta sisätiloissa vain lisämaksusta.

Tout petit, 3 salles un peu surchargées mais je salue l'effort de ce collectionneur privé qui a généreusement offert de partager l'accès à ses pièces et LE PLUS IMPORTANT tout en les laissant sur le continent africain !!!!
Le guide est très cultivé et a su répondre à toutes nos interrogations. Le seul hic, le musée donne sur une piscine qui nous faisait envie et dans laquelle nous n'avons pas pu nous baigner... dommage :)

Situé juste à côté de l'hôtel Krimas, sur le bd du Mono, ce petit musée nous a d'abord semblé fermé, il suffisait en fait de sonner à la porte. Bon accueil, la visite se fait accompagnée du guide qui donne des explications avec le sourire.
Beaucoup d'objets des pays du Golfe de Guinée, et depuis quelques années d'autres pays africains, d'où le changement de nom ...
3 pièces accueillent ces objets, ainsi qu'un beau petit espace extérieur. Certes c'est surchargé et les objets pourraient être mieux mis en valeur mais c'est intéressant.
3000 CFA pour les étrangers, 1500 CFA pour les Togolais. Photos autorisées à l'extérieur (sans supplément).

This is a small but impressive collection of mostly wooden sculptures from countries and cultures across West Africa. Some date to the 15th c. and the oldest is from the 10th c. Photos allowed outside but not in the inside gallery. The Museum has changed its name and is no longer the Musée International du Golfe de Guinée.

It changed its name to the Museum of African Art or something like that.
This is a very small, privately-owned museum (by a Chinese anthropology professor).
It is a small 2 (overcrowded) rooms that contain a good collection of masks, carvings and other objects from around West Africa, most of them are tagged with the country of origin and some with the date.
You have to pay an entry fee, I was asked an extra fee to take photos, there was no sign(s) that said that photography is not allowed and it kind of felt like extortion.
It is not great, but there is nothing else (at least based on my search) that you can do in Lome, so this would be a good place to waste an hour or two during the weekend.
Note: This place is not well known, so I had a hard time asking around if any driver can take me there, in the end, I had to use google maps to guide the driver.
