It was raining and the roads are being repaved which made walking through challenging as expected with typical motorbike traffic and open umbrellas. It’s easy to lose track of which portion you’ve been in, I think I only saw two areas. Made several purchases. Prices here were cheaper than some other markets I’ve been to in the more touristy areas.

Nepal has many vibrant local markets. Some popular ones include Asan Tole Market and Indra Chowk Market in Kathmandu, Thamel Market for tourists. These markets offer a variety of goods, from fresh produce to handicrafts and souvenirs.

Local sellers are too active. It is hard to get feeling. When you walk it is nonstop "fight"against them. After few days spending in this, you can start automaticly reject this part of street life.

This is actually a middle point of a wholesale local market. You will find everything here. This is not much of tourist buying but you will get the true essence of local people and their culture.
Another importance is this place connects thamel, dorbar hall and a way out to main city; all in 10/15 mins walking distance.

If you are new to large Asian and middle eastern markets, hang onto your hat (and your belongings)! This bazaar is a wild experience, even for the well-heeled global traveler. You will be packed shoulder to shoulder with bikes, cars, fruit carts, and other people--to name a few things! But the noise, sights, and stalls will be something to remember. Sensory overload for sure! What can't you find at this bazaar?
Recommend keeping your money close and do not bother with a large camera/any camera.
Be brave and give it a try! It is sure to result in a story.

Quite the place. Really crowded but people are nice and keeping some distance while walking. Got to experience the evening bazaar too. Went there again today and the place has all kinds of shops. Starting from clothing, shoes to food, masala etc.

Ancient traditional market within residential square located central of Kathmandu and easily accessible from the Touristic Hub Thamel and Kathmandu Durbar square. This is one of the recommeded local spice market for spice lovers.
