Although not the grandest of temples in the old city and easily missed, Wat Dokkham is a little gem. There not all that much to see, but what there is, is certainly worth spending a little time here. Some of the detail in the decoration is exquisite but it would be so easy just to walk past without a second glance.
The temple is situated on quite a busy road but the minute you enter into a small courtyard, it feels so peaceful and a perfect place to relax and let ether would pass you by.

Mais un peu comme ts les autres... il est beau c’est bien le style temple thaïlandais mais comme c’est au moins le dixième que ns voyons un ptt peu blases

I stop at this wat almost everyday. To sit and meditate. It is very welcoming with comfortable seating.

Free to walk in and yes, its another temple. Not large, yet quaint and always worthy of a look as you are passing by in the old town of Chiang Mai.

Wat Dokkham is another lesser-known temple I visited because the popular temples are now charging foreigners to enter, - and I thought I would visit a few of the lesser well known ones and see if they're worth a visit instead.
Wat Dokkham is situated on the moat road, close to Thapae Gate; easy to check on the map.
There is the main temple with fine pictures on the walls and plenty of artifacts. There is a smaller building outside with Buddha statue and others inside. Also, a fine small stupa in the courtyard.
Wat Dokkham is a good average Thai temple to visit. Note that when I visited there were three dogs in the courtyard that barked a lot and appeared menacing. I stood still for a while, let them sniff me, and after that they lost interest.
Good advice at any time, but of course some bigger dogs may react differently.

This is a small temple near Ta Pae Gate. You will pass it when walking from the gate to Somphet Market. I is located on the same side of the road.
Expect no sensational or rare things to discover here. It is an average Thai Buddhist temple with beautiful wall paintings inside the viharn (main building). The chedi behind it is very shiny and seems to glow during sunset. The whole place looks well maintained.
There is a second, much smaller building that houses another Buddha image.
All in all it is worth a short visit if you happen to be in the vicinity.

Loop je langs de drukke weg en je passeert dit Wat stap dan even de rust in. Het is geen spectaculair Wat maar even op adem komen lukt hier prima. Bekijk de prachtige panelen en kom op adem. Daarna gewapend met rust het spectakel weer in.
