Каждый раз, когда посещаем другую страну, стараемся купить что-то из произведений искусства. Гуляя по Нячангу, мы забрели в фотогалерею Mai Loc. От колоритности фотографий мы были в восторге. Мне кажется, что Гарик Сукачёв тут тоже бывал и это побудило его написать "Моя бабушка курит трубку")))

Mai Loc is one of Vietnam’s best-known photographers. He works largely in black and white, and his award-winning images are simply stunning. His gallery is hugely worth visiting – just to browse his amazing photographs on the walls is an experience in itself, and if you wish, you can buy them in a sizes ranging from postcard to poster.
Mr Mai is there in person. He’s a quiet man whose English is very good, and he has great stories to tell. My partner and I booked a morning photographic trip with him, which was undoubtedly the highlight of our Vietnam trip – he took us to see the arrival of the fishing catch, and to villages where we met local people, not least a couple of women who made the conical hat that’s such a ubiquitous sight throughout the country. He also offered advice on how to take the best photographs and get the most from your camera.
Do visit Mai Loc’s gallery in Nha Trang; you certainly won’t regret it. And do think about taking one of his tours… for me, an unforgettable experience.

Just moved here for a few months and was honestly looking for something interesting to put on the bare walls of my apartment. This man is a truly remarkable world class photographic artist. Lovely man. Incredible story which others share bit of in the other reviews. For anyone interested in photography, the culture of rural Vietnam, and humanity beyond urbanized life in general, I can not over recommend a visit to this gallery. I have scheduled on of his photo tours.

善用光影及構圖及突出主體，帶出越南的故事及特色。相館地方不太，沒有半點推銷，相片喜歡的話也可買。時間許可也值得一來，地點也容易找。

Whilst travelling in Vietnam with a large group of friends - we would visit Nha Trang for a couple of days. I love photography so searched online for tours and found Loc. Whilst my friends only have their mobile phones - they were also interested in the day so Loc arranged a van to take 9 of us. Wow we had the most amazing day and saw things we never knew existed.
Loc is a fantastic guy - very passionate about his exceptional work and a very interesting man to spend the day with.
Whilst we did not rate Nha Trang at all - our day with Loc was THE best ever.

We visited the gallery based upon our guides recommendation. Mai Loc truly captured the Vietnamese people in their daily life - salt drying, children cavorting with water buffalo, wonderful older faces - the lines and feelings were beautifully captured. He had an interesting history meeting a Norwegian husband and wife visiting Vietnam and they took him under their wing as he earned his living on a pedi cab used to transport locals and tourists. The turning point was his Norwegian friend bought him a camera and the rest is history. He is the recipient of many local and international awards and the nice part is that the photos were affordable. He runs photographic courses in the salt fields and was passionate about his craft. We absolutely loved him, his photos and we left with 6 wonderful scenes of the natural Vietnamese life. What a wonderful opportunity to meet this man! A must to visit if in Na Trang!

Не большая галерея на 3-ей линии в европейском квартале. Вроде ничего особенного - просто работы фотографа... Но почему то каждая из них притягивает взгляд - каждая про настоящую жизнь. Про Вьетнам, про тех кто работает, про тех кто там живет, про те места, которые турист и не увидит никогда. Удивительные работы!

We found Mai Loc on the web and read up all we could about his life story. We saw he offered many kinds of adventures but our time was short and we could not find the days we needed. We arrived in Nha Trang for the Hung King Holiday weekend and contacted Loc by phone. He customized a private package for us that could not have been better! He and his driver picked us up at the hotel exactly on time and en route to the salt fields he was able to give us lots of information. We had done this journey the previous year but in the fall not the spring season and of course, we had none of the insider connections. Loc is well respected by the local people and we had a wonderful afternoon with the local people and then of course, the benefit of Loc's photography skills.
We will definitely be back to learn more with this wonderful man!

We met Loc 13 years ago and purchased some photos from him. We returned to Nha Trang not knowing we would meet him again. By chance we found his store on trip advisor . Because we remembered the photos,and the art galleries that used to be in Nha Trang before big tourism came in. We took a full day tour with Loc and out two girls 9 and 12. It was True Vietnam. Amazing! We visited the fishing village, hat makers, the vegetable market, salt fields. Loc respects the Vietnam culture and is proud to educate others on the ways. Loc has a great story to tell and wants to share his passion for Vietnam and photography. His English is very good and he is respected by everyone. Please allow him to take care of you. We trust him with everything he understood and respected our needs with children and our visit. We will definitely return again for more days with Loc. Thank you Loc for creating a memory for my children they will never forget. Here are some pictures from our day of our girls.
