I visited one of the villages in the outskirts of Phnom Penh in 2017. The villagers were polite and shy when they have foreign visitors. The rice fields looked beautiful during the sunset. The village life is leisurely and relaxing. No one is in a hurry. A good place to unwind. Avoid going there during rainy season though. The paths will be muddy and impossible for cars to go through.

Phnom Penh’s Old Market, which Cambodian’s know as Phsar Chas, is close to the Night Market, situated between streets 108 & 110. From the riverfront take the short walk down 108 & the market will be on your left after crossing street 13. Continuing down 108, keeping Phsar Chas on your left, you arrive at street 15 which is narrow & often covered with plastic sheeting & tarpaulins, to fend off inclement weather. This is the area where you will find fresh meat, fish, crabs & vegetables.
Many of the vendors open around 6am while others appear to close by late afternoon. Best time to visit would be early morning, say 8am.
Phsar Chas, with many narrow passageways, serves the needs of local businesses such as hotels & guest houses with fruit, vegetables, fresh meat/fish & cut flowers. It is also the place to get your hair re-styled or a quick trim & have your nails repaired & decorated. I noticed at least one small business where clothes can be altered or repaired including replacing a broken zip or missing buttons. Other small shops sell a mix of household requisites & cosmetics. You will also find Buddhist candles & incense sticks with an array of related items in some of the market’s small units.
Everyone is welcome although not really a tourist attraction, but none-the -less, well worth the opportunity of witnessing the comings & goings of a very busy traditional Cambodian market.

De zogenaamde oude markt. Die heel aparte kraampjes heeft. Wel leuk. vaak lokale bedrijfjes die aparte dingen verkopen

Absolutely perfect fried chicken, very friendly place, I enjoyed my third meal at this place, cheap food and beautiful smiles. It’s a must if you just want a simple burgers and chicken and chips

Ho visitato questo mercato perché di fianco al mio hotel, è un mercato più che altro alimentare, ma bisogna avere stomaco per visitarlo, dato gli odori le numerose mosche sopra la carne e il pesce e il posto angusto e il poco spazio tra un banco e l'altro.

Seperti umumnya pasar tradisional di negara-negara berkembang pasar ini lumayan semrawut. Pembeli dan penjual tumplek blek disini.
Segala macam kebutuhan rumah tangga, bahan makanan, dll mudah ditemukan di pasar yang tak jauh dari tepian sungai ini. Ini bukan untuk destinasi turis sih. Tapi bolehlah melipir jika penasaran. Apalagi banyak jajanan murah penggoda selera disini.

not a touristic place. but its good if u wanna see and experience a local market. not clean and not much space between the shops. lots of local stuffs are avialble. with many streetside food shops. cheap and many household and domestic items shops are more there.

A local market where Cambodian people do buy their stuffs from here. Many stalls and many visitors. It’s almost similar to Russian Market

I would suggest that you can go to this market mostly to look for some items needed for the home or some items you need for personal use. There are other markets - e.g. Central market - that you can visit for the purchase of souvenirs and some art objects

Mingle with the locals and tourist as this place seems to sell everything. From freshly caught crickets ina shopping bag to souvenirs.
