A very interesting and fun walk around the old fort area of Colombo. Christopher was informative and amusing and the pace was just right for us. We very much enjoyed the history of old Colombo including visits to Cargill's and the Grand Oriental Hotel. I would recommend this tour and our guide, Christopher.

Highlight of our visit to Colombo on a tour of Sri Lanka. This 3+ hour walking food tour took us to bars and food sellers we would never have visited on our own. Shenelle our guide was knowledgable, personable and great fun, with perfect English and a great rapport with everyone we encountered on our tour. Thanks Shenelle!

We highly recommend this very good tour to everyone. It gives you a great insight into the history of the Fort area of Colombo together with its amazing buildings and includes a visit the renowned Pettah markets.
Our tour was led by Christopher a most knowledgable and genial guide whose enthusiasm and interest in both historical and current events married together perfectly the past and present of this extraordinary district of Colombo.

Christopher took on a fascinating walking tour of the old Fort are and markets of Colombo.
His delivery and English were excellent and he made sure all in the group were involved.
He took us to the bar on the top floor of an l of ld hotel overlooking the harbour, and then into the hubbub of the markets.
He looked after us crossing roads and getting us safely to our transport at the end.

Our foodie walk around Colombo with Christopher Rebert was one of the highlights of our three weeks in Sri Lanka. The walk was at our pace and covered a significant number of the the key sites within Fort and Pettah. Christopher has an in depth knowledge of buildings, locations, history and food experiences. His enthusiasm was infectious and overall gave us an experience that will live long in the memory & with our tastebuds!

Had a fantastic tour with Mark Forbes, he is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and has a great sense of humour which kept us equally informed and entertained throughout the tour. We even got lucky and were taken to a speakeasy to try some Arrack. I also loved how he had an iPad to show us photos he had taken over the years so we could see how the area has changed. Couldn’t recommend Mark more highly.

Had a great time on this walking tour of Colombo. Christopher was an excellent guide—super knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the city’s history. He kept things engaging without overloading us with too much information, and there were plenty of chances to ask questions. The pace was just right, and we got to see a mix of well-known landmarks and hidden gems. Definitely a great way to get a feel for the city. We spent nearly a fortnight in Sri Lanka, and Christopher's tour was one of the key highlights for us. Would recommend!

Excellent walking tour of the Fort and market area in Colombo. Christopher Rebert was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and we tasted typical Sri Lankan food along the way. We even had the (dubious) pleasure of a Tuktuk ride in rush hour Colombo!!
Would heartily recommend. Great way to get the feel of the city, especially if you don’t have a long stay in Colombo.

Hi, after reading all the reviews, I feel this would be a very interesting walk. We're on the Sapphire Princess and arrive on Nov 23rd and I'm wondering if the walking tour is suitable for someone in a wheelchair? As most tours associated with cruises don't cater for the wheelchair bound, we usually wander around the cities on our own, but this walk sounds great, providing there are no steps to climb. looking forward to your reply.

Hello Caroline,
I think the tour is do-able by someone in a wheelchair. I think some care crossing streets and finding sidewalk access will both need some planning, so it would be prudent to communicate your situation to Colombo City Walks beforehand. Most of it is flat, slight hills here and there, I do not remember stairs during the walk. The market will be tight, as it is crowded. Final analysis -- do-able, just let them know ahead of time.
