Katrina was very knowledgeable about all areas in history, food, local! She took us to small restaurants that specialize in what they do! It was a fun experience.
We started on the European side, took a ferry ride to the Asian side.. a more conservative area. I learned tho conservative, people of many faiths can live together in peace and support a thriving community.
The food was amazing of course!!

Really god experience with excellent guide, who introduced us to a great variety of Turkish food as well as history of the dishes and the neighbourhoods.

We spent a lovely day guided by Ugur. It was like meeting up for tea and nibbling our way through the city with an old friend. We usually try to find off the beaten path discoveries on our own but Ugur showed us tucked away tea shops that only locals would know about. This was a great experience to complete our Istanbul trip.

This was by far the best tour we had done in Istanbul and it was raining all day! The rain didn't stop us and Ugur was the best guide for us and so informative and fun. Highly recommend.

This was a wonderful tour. We walked all over and learned about the city, the culture, the history, and the food. Esin gave us many insights that tourists cannot get from books or the internet. She introduced us to shopkeepers and cooks who answered questions. Everything was delicious and although we had small bites along the way, we ate so much that we didn’t need to eat dinner afterwards. We were introduced to real Turkish breakfasts, which is what I had every day afterwards.
I would say that the only negative was that the tour lasted 7 hours and I was exhausted by the end.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our Hidden Beyoglu Tour! It was a magical evening of food and history - the perfect introduction to Turkish cuisine and culture on our first evening in Istanbul. We give our highest recommendation to this tour and to Culinary Backstreets.

Our tour felt like spending an evening with a longtime friend as he showed us around his city. Ugur was an extremely warm and generous host, deeply knowledgeable about the customs and traditions of Turkish food and culture. He adapted the tour both to our dietary restrictions and our appetites. We enjoyed the food so much that we returned to some of the restaurants, and followed his recommendations for other neighborhoods. We typically explore new places by ourselves, but this tour made us much more likely to pursue another with Culinary Backstreets. It's a great value, and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

This your was one of the highlights of my Istanbul vacation. The food was incredible. What made this the best culinary tour I have ever been on was definitely the guide, Esin. She brought these neighborhoods to life! She was so kind and everyone in the neighborhoods seemed to know her. We did some things that weren't directly food related, but that's what brought the city to life for me. People now ask me what my favorite thing about visiting Istanbul was and I say it was the people and their stories

Our guide Esim was a delight - she happily led us around a plethora of cafes/bakeries/restaurants/kebab houses & even what appeared to be a private dining room! We strolled past mosques (stopping to watch the muezzin) and visited non-touristy areas, on foot, by ferry & by bus. We ate so much delicious food & came away with a better understanding of the food, the geography & the charm of Istanbul & its’ people. A great introduction on our first Istanbul visit. Not to be missed!

They have several tours covering different parts of the city during the day and night and even one cooking class in someone's house! So there's plenty to choose from in terms of area coverage and preferences, so surely you wont be disappointed. Just remember these tours are FOOD based and not for sightseeing...
