Confused as to why this is a tourist attraction. The houses are modern and are nothing special. Wouldn’t recommend a special trip.

İstanbul’un en eski sokaklarından birisi olan Soğukçeşme sokağı, adını sokakta bulunan III. Selim dönemine ait mermer bir çeşmeden alır. Ayasofya ile Topkapı Sarayı’nın duvarına yaslanmış, geçmişten günümüze kalan Osmanlı mimarisi; 12 ahşap ev ve roma sarnıcına sahiptir. Bu bölgeyi geziyorsanız mutlaka uğrayın.

Stroll Soğuk Çeşme, a notable street lined with twelve Ottoman wooden houses, historic buildings and a Byzantine cistern (today an underground restaurant).

The 12 mansions that are attached by the Topkapı Palace walls, were built around 1800. Soğukçeşme sokak (Cold Fountain Street),
got its name from a fountain that was built in the same period, on the façade of the Byzantine cistern entrance.
High officials of the Ottoman state used to reside here during the early years, when the street/area was created. Then, when the dynasty moved to Dolmabahce Palas, middle class people became the inhabitants of the street. Today majority are boutique hotels.
Foreign travelers & artists visiting Istanbul in 19th century were especially interested in this street and produced work about the street (drownings, pictures, photos)

"Стамбул -город контрастов" (С)! И это подтверждается, ведь наряду с общепризнаными мировыми достопримечательностями или новыми районами из стекла и стали встречаются такие уютные, аутентичные переулки! А место действительно фотогеничное!

Sultanahmet’te Ayasofya Camisiyle Topkapı Sarayının duvarları arasındaki güzergah. Osmanlı dönemi mimarisi rengarenk cumbalı evlerin olduğu, sokağa adını veren çeşmesiyle dikkat çeken, araç trafiğine kapalı, gezmesi keyifli bir sokak.

Sogukcesme Street has to be the cutest little street in Istanbul.
I always love walking the little toad with the cobbled pavement and the beautiful wooden houses lining the wall with the Topkapi Palace.
Nevertheless the weather is rather miserable Sogukcesme has stil lot of charme.

Dopo la visita di Santa Sofia e del Palazzo del Topkapi, qui vicini, vi consiglio di passeggiare in questa tranquilla e linda strada pedonale abbellita da graziose case ottomane in legno risalenti al XIX secolo e perfettamente restaurate. Tanto sono tenute bene che sembrano finte. Dopo la gran confusione di questa bellissima città, ci siamo rilassati assaporando la calma di questa incantevole stradina (in italiano viale della Fontana Fredda).
