I echo the sentiments of other fellow travellers that this is one of the gems to visit in Abu Dhabi, especially if you are interested in history.
We parked in the North car park (underground) which can be accessed from Zayed the first street. You can then take the lift up and walk past the Children’s library to the fort which is a few minutes walk. It provides the opportunity to have a 360 view of the modern architecture surrounding the fort which really puts the location and significant development of the city into context once you enter the exhibition.
We were warmly greeted by friendly and informative staff at the ticket office. We went straight into the exhibition which was thankfully air conditioned as it was pretty hot outside! The exhibition was fantastic. We were taken right back in time to learn about the various rulers of AD as well as stories of how the UAE came to be. It is incredible how quickly (in the grand scheme of things) that the UAE has grown and developed and still does!
We learnt so much, it’s hard to put it all into words. Each section was jam packed with information and fascinating artefacts; there wasn’t too much for it to be overwhelming or too little for you to be wanting more. We particularly enjoyed the interactive timeline.
We then made our way into the tower and across to the corridor of rooms. It’s really great to see the traditional skills used to build the fort- the wooden beams, smooth skimmed walls and archways.
The courtyard areas are so tranquil and peaceful. There was hardly anyone around as we visited on a Tuesday morning, a good time to go!
We then headed over to the House of Artisans- a separate building to the fort. This was just as interesting, focussing on the traditional craft and culture of the UAE. We missed the gahwa presentation unfortunately but hope to return to see it. You could easily spend a few hours here. I am glad we visited when my toddler was at nursery because he would’ve been bored and it gave us an opportunity to really take our time and appreciate the exhibition. It’s the perfect place to take visitors who come to stay with us so they can learn about the history and culture of the UAE. Highly recommend!

Our visit to the museum, art center, and cultural foundation was truly special, thanks to the amazing service from Raad and her sister. From the moment we arrived, Raad was professional and made sure everything went smoothly. She shared a lot of interesting information about the culture and history, and she was so friendly and caring that we felt welcomed and comfortable the whole time.
Rahaf was just as kind and full of energy. Her friendliness made the experience even more enjoyable and it was clear she loved sharing the art and culture with us. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality and passion for what they do.

The Qasr al Hosn is an old presidential palace in the middle of Abu Dhabi which can be reached on foot from the Corniche. Admission also includes a visit to the adjacent modern museum where you participate in an Arabic coffee ceremony. Nice impressions.

Qasr Al Hosn is a must-visit for anyone interested in Abu Dhabi's history and culture. The fort itself is a beautiful, well-preserved piece of architecture. The displays tell the story of Abu Dhabi's evolution, from a small fishing village to a modern metropolis.
The surrounding area, Al Hosn, is also worth exploring. It's a lovely park with plenty of shaded areas to relax and enjoy the views. There are also some interesting cultural buildings and a few cafes to grab a bite to eat.

A short, fairly quick visit to the completely restored fort (too much...?) and discover, with documents and objects, the evolution of Abu Dhabi.

Here the beginning of Abu Dhabi was forged, a great restoration of the building combining the modernity and the salvageability of the old building, as well as the buildings that surround it, the old and the new.
Small museum about the beginning of Abu Dhabi, its customs and traditions.
The old doors of the old qsar, falconry objects, weapons, photos are still preserved

The palace shows the contrasts between the old city and the new being the oldest structure in Abu Dhabi. The palace has been restored and you can now wonder through the halls and courtyards to see how people lived at that time.
Surprisingly the palace is similar to the idea of how the wealthy must of lived at that time. It does look like what most Americans would think life would be like here today instead of the modern ideals that the country now embraces an in a way has surpassed us.
Just to see the modern city in the background is worth the trip.

If you have a craving for the history and authenticity of the area, then you can stop by. A C grade. Yes, this is an old fortress, restored. There are no special exhibitions in the fortress itself. There is a museum nearby. If you know nothing at all about life and crafts in the desert, then you are curious. It’s even a little interactive: drink coffee, weave a rug pattern on the screen, smell spices, etc. In general, you can come in. There’s definitely no need to rush here specifically. A 10-minute walk is the interesting Ittihad Square with 6 symbols of the country (coffee pot, cannon, smoking bowl, food cap, watchtower and perfume bottle). For some reason the gun was no longer there))

You are greeted very warmly and given lots of information leaflets with your entrance ticket. The building dates back to a watchtower that was supposed to protect a freshwater spring, which became a fortress and then a palace. This is where the city's nucleus lies. The rooms contain interesting objects relating to history and culture. Really worth seeing!
