Art to Die For

I love street art and the concentration of good and interesting art at the General Cemetery of La Paz is fantastic. I was fortunate to be with a guide who explained a lot about how this largest cemetery in Bolivia (all of South America?) works and the importance of certain holiday rituals involving skulls of the dear. I plan to go back to be sure I didn’t miss any of the art. Strange but interesting.

Conocer el cementerio general de la paz te va a dar una visión más completa de la forma de ver la vida para esta cultura. Es muy especial por todo lo que significa para los paceños.

Je ne suis pas particulièrement mortifère mais cette visite est particulière car on a des HLM de tombes.
En fait les niches pour les cercueils font penser à des HLM.
Il y a mêmes des tags mais en forme de fresques et non des dégradations.

Riesiger Friedhof auf kleinstem Raum

Zwar haben wir den Friedhof nicht eigentlich besucht, sondern sind mit der Gondelbahn darüber hinweggeschwebt. Aber war wir da gesehen haben, hat uns doch beeindruckt.

A hidden gem

A hidden gem on La Paz's map. Definitely interesting to see and spend some time walking around. And if you find cemeteries creepy, this one has plenty of colourful murals to make you feel more relaxed.

City of the dead, city within the city of La Paz. The small windows of the graves offer an insight into the lives of the deceased people. Interesting market in front of the main entrance.

Cementerio a lo Wynwood

Al llegar pensé en los otros cementerios que he visitado como el de Punta Arenas en Chile o el de la Recoleta en Buenos Aires y este no tiene nada que ver, es distinto yo diría que alegre. Si! esa sensación me dio. Más bien me acordé de Wynwood Walls de Miami! Es que los grafitis coloridos en los muros le dan toda una onda y los edificios de ataúdes le aportan el toque bizarro. Sugiero no perdérselo. Es un lugar fotografiable y colorido. Todo un must para mi. Se llega en teleférico.

Es muy interesante ver como tratan a la muerte en estos países. Los nichos son dignas de ver. Y las pinturas de los edificios son interesantísimas. Línea roja tiene parada propia.
