I was planning a trip to Cairo to get to know Coptic Egypt better and explore the tradition of the Egyptian church for my PhD research. Initially, it was supposed to be only a research trip. I had visited Egypt many times before but I also wanted to show it to my friends from Ireland and Poland. And their dream, in turn, was to see pyramids and mummies.... Why not? Studying and spending time with friends turned out to be a good idea. I sent an outline of my plans to the Egypt Day Tours office, which had been recommended by my good friend from Dublin, Anto. Extending our itinerary, he also offered other places to see, so we had the opportunity to visit many other sites worth visiting. For me, his knowledge of the Coptic Church turned out to be extremely valuable. The company also provided services outside normal working hours; whenever we needed help we could count on it. Mahmoud accompanied us on evening trips to the city, to restaurants and helped with shopping, especially of my favourite spices ... The agency offered free of charge evening transfers as well. Although we spent only five days in Cairo, we have an impression that we have seen much more than we expected... We are already planning another trip with the same agency. This time to the Upper Egypt ...
