A great place to wander around in day time and explore some unique shops. The cafes are brilliant and people were so nice.
In the evening this is a great place to go and eat good food in clean restaurants and takeaways. My go to place was Zooba absolutely delicious.

It is the most modern area of the city near the river, it is nice to walk, has good places to eat or have an ice cream. There are some museums but it was closed

This is a nice neighborhood to walk in. It feels safe, it’s mostly shaded, and there are lots of cute little cafes and restaurants to choose from.

Seven years ago I walked around the island following the riverbank as much as possible. It was a 9 km hike and took me two hours. Nowadays it is hardly possible anymore as a new circular road is under conctruction around most of the island. Private clubs have extended their activities as well and built new terraces and restaurants off the island in the Nile. There is hardly any public space left. I found the northeastern section of the island the most quiet.

Very close to downtown, this island in the Nile provides some much needed green space. We drove by in our tour bus and we noted that there were a lot of people around seeking shade and a place to sit down. Good for strolling.

I walked across Qasr El Nil Bridge and went to Cairo Tower on Zamalek Gezira Island.
Compared to downtown Cairo, Zamalek Gezira Island has more greenery and a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. It seems to be a high-end residential area for the wealthy.

On this island within the Nile River, there is the District of Gezira and Zamalek. There you will find hotels, the Cairo Tower, bars, restaurants, shops and a supermarket. It is a “chic” and pleasant neighborhood to visit or stay in.

This is a lovely, very green part of Cairo with lots of sporting activities as well as some impressive sights, including Cairo Tower and the Opera House.
There are also quieter roads running around the outside of the island so it is much more pedestrian friendly than elsewhere in the city.

I know Zamalek from before and lived there. Love zamalek in general, has good cafees and restaurants
