这是一个令人印象深刻的现代建筑“鸟巢”体育场。看到了IBM大楼方向的美丽日落。乘地铁到奥林匹克体育中心站非常方便。遗憾的是，我们没有等到晚上欣赏“鸟巢”的灯光，它应该更壮观！

广场非常大，一路上有餐馆和旅游商品专卖店。我们还看见了一个富有才华的京剧街头表演者。建筑群很壮观，灯光也非常引人注目。

我看了一部关于鸟巢和水立方建设的纪录片，非常感兴趣，所以当我们决定访问北京时，我只能亲自来这里看。第一个问题-我读过报告说现场年久失修，根本没有使用过。我找不到一个真正包含奥林匹克区的旅游，但后来我找到了中国Odyssey/Odynovo，并预订了一个“私人旅游，以便我可以改变行程，包括这个。这和电视上的一样令人印象深刻。站在鸟巢附近可以让你领略到鸟巢结构的复杂设计——真是太神奇了。水立方里的水通过墙壁来创造空调，也让人惊叹不已。如果有人告诉你，这个地方没有使用，而且年久失修，这是完全不真实的，值得一看。

奥林匹克公园就在离我住的酒店（北极星大陆大酒店）不远的路上，在北京期间，我参观了两次。有很多人在附近散步，玩游戏，吃东西等等。这使得晚上散步非常愉快，尤其是鸟巢体育场和水立方亮灯的时候。我们还发现了一个小的就餐区（经过鸟巢体育场）和“倒计时”塔附近。有很多食物、冰淇淋和饮料。再往前走一点是一座寺庙（不记得名字），但下午5点关门，所以先去那里参观，然后绕着奥林匹克公园走走。

今天下午，吃完北京烤鸭。听说
张杰要在鸟巢开演唱会。迫不及待地坐着车到了水立方的下面，远远地听着有微微的歌声，所以，开演唱会都不用买门票了

奥林匹克公园占地广大，北端为森林公园，南端为奥运场馆所在，已成为市民活动运动与休憩的场所，以清晨跟傍晚来访最为适宜，尤其场馆区域因为较少遮阳之处，大太阳下铁定很晒

北京奥运其间,进行大型建筑项目,主要运动场馆都座落在现址奥林匹克公园,著名鸟巢及水立方就是建造在这里,占地空间广阔,徒步都要用上至少30分钟才能走完一圈。

How far is it from the Olympic Park subway station to the National Aquatic Center/Water Cube? How many minutes would it take to walk there?

Does anyone know the difference between the tour that is named "Top US tour and water cube" and "Nest panoramic tour + water cube". We would like to go to the top of the Nest to look at the panorama view but cant work out from the Chinese site how the 2 tours differ?
We are going in April so will the air be clean enough for good views?

The air quality should be ok.
I wouldn't bother with the tour. Just pay at the entrance and you can make your own way up to the roof. There might not be a lot to see though.

Are you able to buy any 2008 Olympics merchandise at the Olympic park anywhere? I'm mainly looking for t-shirts, key chains etc.

There are some great Olympic Games souvenirs inside the stadium. A “Normal” entrance ticket is 40 Yuan (20 Yuan for concessions). I recommend the encapsulated section of 2008 Games grass/soil, price 150 Yuan.

Green Line subway (#8) is best, getting off at "Olympic Sports Ctr". Green line intersects directly with Purple Line (#5), Light Blue Line (#10), Dark Blue Line (#2), Yellow Line (#13) and Changping (light lilac line but no # yet). All other subway lines require 2 transfers. So where you board depends on where you are starting from, but you want to end up on the Green Line (#8). There are color coded route maps in all stations and also most subway cars. Also each subway car has an electronic sign that notes all stops on its route, and highlights the current one. Signs are in both Chinese and English, as are oral announcements. You can find a great subway system map by googling "Beijing Subway System", but I can't reproduce the link here.

We have visited Beijing before and passed the Bird's Nest and Watercube but did not have time to go inside. Do you have to book and roughly how much was it to venture into both attractions? We are visiting again March 2016.

As mentioned by others their is no reservation needed. Just pay entrance fees at the Birds Nest. About $5 - $8 USD for Cube and Birds Nest respectively. Worth the visit. Beer Garden was opened near the Cube back in summer months so might be in March. Enjoy.

Is 7.00 pm on a weekday a good visiting time? I have no plans to go inside the stadium. More interested in getting some good pictures.

I was there in May and weekdays are best for sure. It does get busy lunchtime onwards I would say.
Mornings definitely better for pics although I got some good shots at night, there's lots going on.
