The Lung Ha Wan Country Trail is a relatively short north-south trail that transects the Clear Water Bay Country Park. From start to stop the trek is a steady upward trail leading to various elevated spots with sweeping panoramic views of the sea. You eventually reach the Tai Leng Tun Viewing Point before beginning your descend to the other end of the trail. At the two ends, there are public toilets and picnic areas. At the southern end of the trail, there is a large carpark, Tai Hang Tun BBQ site and refreshment kiosks.
The trail is steeper at the southern end leading up to Tai Leng Tun. While the trail is only moderately used, on clear days, there can be sizeable crowds hanging out near the top taking pictures of the sea and outlying islands. There is a picture map at the main viewing platform, pointing out various islands and their names.
Note: The trail is mostly exposed to the elements. Very little in the form of trees, shade or cover along the way. As such, apply sunscreen, bring plenty of water and be prepared for the weather.
Note: Near the north entrance country park, you can also walk down to the rocky coastline and see one of only nine ancient rock carvings that have been found in Hong Kong. It is protected monument and estimated to be around 3000 years old. There is a sign along the road and a small pathway pointing out the location of the rock carving.
Note: There are no public transportation options at either end of the trail. However, at the Tai Au Mun Village, there are several buses that do drop off and pick up. These include KMB bus 91 <> Diamond Hill Bus Exchange & MTR, Minibus 103 <> Tsueng Kwan O Bus Exchange & MTR and Minibus 16 <> Po Lam. If you get off the bus at the roundabout here, you can simply hike up Hung La Wan Road up to the official trailhead or down the hill if you want to enter and start from the southern end of the country park.
