We did a private street food tour with Daisann and it was the best experience. So knowledgeable and obviously passionate about the Hong Kong way of life. Proud to have the opportunity to learn so much about the history, food and culture. It was exactly what we were after and the food was oh so delicious! Thank you so much.

ISLAND LIFE with Daisann started at Pier 6 and proceeded by ferry to Peng Chau Island. On the way and throughout the day we had great conversations with Daisann about culture, politics and Island Life. After a snack and some hibiscus tea we made our way walking around the island. Although it was a little humid, we had some great views we would have never got in HK. We ended up with a taste of local Dim Sum and a ferry ride back to HK. Got to get on the water, different perspective. Daisann is a very respectful, personable and experienced guide.

ESSENTIAL HK WALK with Yvonne got right into the pace of Hong Kong life. We visited the neighborhoods of Central Hong Kong (Soho, Sheun Wan, etc.) When we weren’t walking and visiting local food markets and temples, we spent time in the various “sitting areas” discussing Yvonne’s perspective of history, the British influence and of course food. From Sun Yat-Sen to Stanley Ho’s four wives and the current protests in HK we covered a ton of subjects. The iced HK milk tea and the Wonton Noddles for lunch were Hong Kong originals. All in all it was great fun!

Thanks Daisann and Yvonne. Hope to see you next trip!

I took a four-hour walking tour that included a dim sum lunch. My guide was Yvonne, who is both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Hong Kong, its history, and its food. We walked around areas that gave me a feel for "old Hong Kong," which I found much more interesting than seeing all the giant apartment buildings and upscale shopping malls on the Kowloon side. She chose a great place for lunch, with delicious dim sum. I would love to try other Little Adventures in Hong Kong tours in the future.

This was our first trip to Hong Kong and the first time we booked a guide.

The moment I met Yvonne I felt completely relaxed and ready for a Hong Kong adventure. Yvonne has this amazing dry intelligent sense of humour topped with an endless knowledge of the historical and current aspects of Hong Kong.

We were adamant about taking our usual mode of transportation in Hong Kong which was an Uber or taxi during the tour, but Yvonne politely encouraged us to take public transportation. Of course she was right and the trains (MTR - Mass Transit Railway) by the way run every 2-3 minutes during the day and 7 minutes in the evening. We began the tour feeling like a local. As we went up the incredibly fast escalator in the train station, Yvonne informed us that the custom in Hong Kong is to stand to the right of the escalator. So if you want to mix with locals it’s also good to respect the norms and we did with pleasure.

Well, being the foodies we all were - we decided to start the tour with a light authentic lunch. And Yvonne did not disappoint. She took us to the top fish ball and noodle place while the owner watched over us to make sure we finished everything :)))). Yvonne also made sure to politely remind us to try to finish all the fish balls otherwise the owner will ask her why we didn’t like the food. The fish balls and noodles were homemade and the restaurant was packed. We were also the only tourists in the place. Yvonne continued to explain that texture is a very important element and so you could choose from 2 types of fresh noodles. We didn’t have any difficulty finishing everything on our plate accompanied by Milk Tea.

We continued our day as we crossed the street to visit a 200 year old temple and Yvonne was very respectful of our presence within the temple. There are many temples throughout Hong Kong and worth a discrete visit.

Next stop was the open market. Wow - if you have never been to this type of food market it’s quite a treat. You will see several types of food being offered for sale and the fresher the better. Don’t be surprised if the fish is still moving - the locals like to make sure it’s fresh. Absolutely nothing goes to waste in Hong Kong.

A sweet treat that is not to be missed in Hong Kong was the homemade street waffles. They are made fresh in front of you and we savoured every bite.

One observation that we continually made throughout our day was the vitality of the elderly in Hong Kong. They have places called “sit outs” - this is a park like setting so that the elderly can socialize with their friends and bring their birds in cages of course. They were literally passing us in their jogging clothes and would casually glance over at us with a big smile. They were going to keep living their lives as healthy as they can and it was more than inspiring to watch.

What really made our overall experience unforgettable wasn’t the fish ball soup with homemade noodles, the 200 year old temple, the outdoor market or the amazing homemade waffle - it was Yvonne. Yvonne is one of the nicest and funniest people we met in Hong Kong.

We talked and walked throughout the day about everything. I will continue to remember our discussions and laughter made better simply because of Yvonne.

We miss Yvonne but I know we will see you again!!!!

My friend and I had spent the previous day with our original tour group and had seen the major sites. Yvonne met us at our hotel and took us around the neighborhood pointing out places that we might want to revisit (great suggestion for dinner) and gave us a tour of the local market area. Then she took us by tram down to Central Hong Kong and walked us all over, pointing out local landmarks and telling us their backstories. We had lunch at little noodle shop that was inexpensive and delicious. At the end she showed us how to use the subway to get back to our hotel as well as making suggestion on where we might go for the rest of our stay and how to get there by subway. Our walking tour turned out to be much more than we expected and enhanced our time in Hong Kong. We greatly enjoyed our time with Yvonne

My mom and I had a fun time with Daisann on the mini street tour. Egg waffles, fish balls soup, herbal drink, outdoor market walk, impromptu food samples, and interesting sights and sounds. The tour was well paced, the food was plenty and Daisann constantly checked with us on what we prefer to eat and try so that she can tweaked the tour to meet our needs. Non touristy neighbourhood, friendly locals, fresh tasty food, informative guide - thanks for showing us around Daisann. The tour was not cheap compared to others but was value for money. Definitely recommend the street food tour and I hope to try other tours when I'm back in Hong Kong in the future.

My wife and I were visiting Hong Kong for a few days and I came across Little Adventures in Hong Kong while searching for food tours.

Although it was short notice, they were able to accomodate us for a 9:00 am to 1:00 pm tour that was a combination of food and culture. It was a mix of the Won-Ton-A-Thon and The Essential.

We were met at our hotel by our guide Yvonne, who you can read all about on the LAHK site. As the former film editor of the South China Morning Post, she's the ideal person to take you on a tour if you have a particular interest in HK film.

For this tour we stayed around the Central, Sheung Wan, and Sai Ying Pun areas. We had food from a cha chaan teng, a bakery, an open air stall, and sampled teas from a couple of herbal tea shops. All the while Yvonne was explaining the local history and culture, with a bit of film discussion mixed in. We also were able to explore various wet and dry market areas and other points of interest in the area. The four hours went by surprisingly quickly.

Overall, we had a great experience. The company was extremely responsive, and having a private tour with someone as deeply knowledgeable and personally connected with the city as Yvonne is makes all the difference.

One of the big advantages of their concept is the ability to customize the tour, and given the short lead time in our situation we weren't able to really take advantage of this. So, I'd recommend you book the tour 2-3 weeks in advance and really give thought to what aspect of HK you'd like to explore. You'll be able to have a detailed conversation with your guide ahead of time.

Highly recommended for getting insights into aspects of the city you might walk past without a second thought.

My private Essential Hong Kong Walk was spectacular! My guide, Daisann, and I were out for a little over 5 hours exploring the local cuisine as well as wandering through markets and the city. It was quite interesting to learn about the history of the different foods and about the lifestyles of those who make it. My favorite part of the experience, in addition to all the delicious food, was sipping tea with an owner of a Chinese teashop. I had mentioned early on in the tour that I love tea (although I was quite uncultured about the topic) and Daisann suggested that we switch up the path to accommodate that. Path may not be the correct word because the tour felt informal, and spontaneous, and felt completely tailored to me. I very much enjoyed that unstructured experience as I had the opportunity to ask many questions and had wonderful conversations that I may never have experienced if I was on a large tour with someone who had a rigid agenda. Great food tour, 10/10, would highly recommend it.

We spent an incredible morning with Daniel doing Little Adventures in Hong Kong's "Won-Ton-a-Thon" food tour. We started off visiting one of the oldest shops in the city where they have live snakes that are used in snake soup ( luckily it's out of season). We then went on to try congee, BBQ pork and goose and various dim sums. We also visited several fresh and dried fish markets and an incredible tea shop. Along the way we not only tasted various foods at places where only locals go, but learned a ton about Contonees food, traditions and Hong Kong. This was a highlight of our trip to Hong Kong.
