南丫岛位于香港岛的西南部，与香港岛和大屿山是香港的三大岛屿。在南丫岛以山地居多，在岛上不许行车，到处都是绿色的植物，有香蕉树、棕榈树等，再加上蟋蟀与青蛙的叫声交相辉映更增添了农园的气息，而且您在这里旅游能够让您采集一些蔬菜，可以到其他的岛上看景点，玩海滩。到南丫岛旅游千万不要错过独具特色的点：榕树湾、索罟湾、深湾等。考古学家曾经认为南丫岛是华南最古老的文化遗址，是渔民的居住地。南丫岛以恬静、清新的氛围吸引着无数诗人、游者以及其他逃避世俗的人们，而且还有很多的外籍工程师也搬到了南丫岛一带定居。南丫岛详细介绍：南丫岛，香港的一个岛名，也叫做博寮洲。行政上属于香港十八区之中的离岛区。南丫岛古称为“舶寮洲”，于唐朝宋朝之时曾为停泊往广州贸易的外国船只之地，后雅化为“博寮洲”。到了近代，由于岛屿位于香港之南，形状像汉字的“丫”，因此得名为“南丫岛”，并逐渐取代“博寮洲”一名。1964年，南丫北段乡事委员会曾向南约理民府建议将“南丫”改名为“南雅”，但不获接纳。南丫岛，位于香港岛的西南面，旧称为博寮洲，面积约13.55平方公里，仅次大屿山和香港岛，是全香港第三大岛屿。南丫岛东西两边均为海峡：分别为东面的东博寮海峡面对香港岛南区，和西博寮海峡面对长洲，南面为中国南海，再南一点到达柦杆群岛。全岛以山地居多，最高点为南面的山地塘，在榕树湾和索罟湾有一些平地。西北部有一个人工填海区——菠萝咀。岛上不许行车，到处都是绿色的植物。这里种植了许多香蕉树，青蛙与蟋蟀交相呼应，棕榈树则为人们提供树荫。一些环岛漫游能让你采一些蔬菜。大部分船只都要先到榕树湾村，从那里出发可以到许多岛上的景点与海滩。南丫岛居民有6000人，大多住在北面地势较平坦、可用作耕地的榕树湾一带。不过亦有人住在南面的索罟湾。自1970年代香港经济起飞，很多年轻的南丫岛居民从岛搬出香港谋生，南丫岛一如其他乡村发展般，剩下年长的一辈在岛内。1990年香港电灯有限公司在岛的西北部菠萝咀填海建立发电厂后，较多外籍的工程师搬到南丫岛榕树湾一带聚居，区内渐有一些西式茶座﹑餐厅，岛上中西文化交汇。1997年香港回归后，因为外籍人士在香港工作需要签证，南丫岛内有部分外籍人士迁离，但仍然不减岛内的洋化气息。·榕树湾：区内有特色的西式茶座和餐厅，横街窄巷的村屋亦充满洋化气息。·鹿洲天后庙：位于南丫岛东边的鹿洲村村东海滨。建于清同治7年（1868年），属三殿庙宇，正殿奉天后娘娘，左边为慈母殿﹑右边为真君殿。庙内设有清同治年间制的铜钟和香案。·索罟湾：昔日为一天然渔港。现因人口迁出令该区较榕树湾荒芜。天后庙位于村口，相传建庙达150年以上，庙内置有清朝的聚宝盆和古钟。·洪圣爷海滩：一个小型泳滩，附近有洪圣庙。·深湾：位于岛南部一个深凹的海湾，面对南中国海，这里是野生绿海龟的产卵地，香港政府亦将该海湾沙地划为限制地区，于每年6月1日至10月31日的绿海龟繁殖季节禁止人们进入和破坏。考古学家认为南丫岛是华南最古老的文化遗址。这里一直是渔民的居住地，它的恬静氛围吸引着无数诗人、艺术家，以及其他希望逃避都市竞争的人们。岛上主要的街道：榕树湾大街榕树湾后街索罟湾第一街公共交通：南丫岛对外交通完全依靠渡轮。港九小轮：有三条路线往返南丫岛与港岛之间。·榕树湾─中环·索罟湾─中环·榕树湾（经北角村）─香港仔全记渡：有一条路线往返南丫岛与港岛之间。·香港仔─模达湾─索罟湾

好舒服嘅地方～由榕树湾行到索罟湾～𠮶日天气有啲热，同埋有啲晒，好彩有少少树阴遮下太阳🙈榕树湾有好多嘢食，有啲Cafe同埋餐厅，好有外国风情🥰同埋有好多外国人住😂仲有好多狗仔😂索罟湾冇咩嘢食，大部份都系海鲜餐厅

南丫岛远离市区，但又不太远，由中环搭船到南丫岛，只需半小时。南丫岛有两个码头，远足可以选择从一个走到另外一个，路程下来也是足够，再一览路上风景，还是非常值得的。

远离热闹区 环境还行 适应自行车 家庭亲子游都可以，看到海边很舒服 光丫脚踏步好玩！最多是外国人住宿适应人少不挤

在香港，我一直很想去一个小旅行。这次，选了南丫岛，由中环搭船到南丫岛，只需半小时。但整个环境和气氛都变得不一样了，休闲得多。在榕树湾大街的酒吧很多，到夜晚，很多外国人都会在这。

德福尚场是一个位于在东九龙来一个广大的尚场。在九龙湾地铁站的正上方，它有一个综合结构或两个尚场，尚场一和尚场二。哪里有一多各种各类的店，例如： 咖啡店、面包店、餐厅、服装店、体育用品商店、美容品牌店、电器店、百货商店、等等。哪里也有不同的娱乐设施，例如：在尚场一和尚场二之间的休息区、洲立影艺、街机游戏、等等。和会多数人出人海，也会很多游客，很像中环商务区。 (154字)

我们从沙咀街的公园，走过对面的马路，然后又向前走，看见有一个海鲜酒家，有一位老伯伯切烧鹅，然后再向前走，酒家有很多不同海里的动物，例如有鱼，蛤蜊和蟹等等，好新鲜。再沿着路，会到了西贡海旁广场。对面有个大海和绿色山，海上有很多旧的船，是绐老人家的。在西贡码头可以买晒干的食物，我觉得很有趣。除了买食物之外，哗都可以买船票去沙滩玩。西贡海旁也都会举办龙舟比赛。我很喜爱西贡。

What’s the best way to get there from Central? Any recommendations for foods and snacks?

Go to Pier 4 or 6 (forget which one ) , "they're in front of IFC (MTR Hong Kong station or Central station", take Hong Kong and Kowloon Ferry (public ferry)
Lamma island have two piers "Yung Shue Wan" and "Sok Kwu Wan", depend on which one you want, actually, quite similar, both have sea food, but quite expansive, some people like go to "Yung Shue Wan" first then walk "easy" to "Sok Kwu Wan", around 1 to 2 hours, beware the path have no cover
Remember a restaurant provide free ferry from Central to there, but sorry, I forgot which

Can I please get some Lamma Island (near Hong Kong) restaurant recommendations for a lunch early April, on a Friday - early-ish to get the ferry back to HK Island for a 3 pm function before the 7s Rugby starts? Don't want to hike miles (group of 8 friends, in early 60s)?

If you take the slow ferry across (only about 20 minutes longer), you will arrive at the town of Sok Kwu Won (I think) with more restaurants. Many are under the same management. Just look in the aquaria until you see the selection of food that you like, check the prices, grab a waterside table and enjoy. Also, Yung Shue has seafood restaurants, there are just more in Sok Kwu Wan.

Yes in 2012, I went inside, but need a torch to see anything.
I went to have an other look at the cave last September 2017,
but it had been blocked off with big boulders.

The only way to Lamma Island is by ferry at Central Pier. To be exact - "Take ferry from Central Pier 4 to Sok Kwu Wan", should take around 30-40 minutes.
From Kowloon to Central Pier you have two options
(1) By MTR - Hop on MTR then head to "Central Station" then walk inside station to "Hong Kong Station" and inside HK station follow signage or ask a staff to guide you to Central Pier. It's about 5-8 mins walk.
(2) By Star ferry - jump on Star ferry at Tsimshatsui side to Central (20 mins ride), off ferry then you are already at the Central Pier (where the big ferris wheel located), then 3 mins walk to Central Pier 4.
Regarding hotel, I believe there is no hotel accommodation on the island as HK is too small which talking about 30 mins - 1 hour travelling distance. If you are a camper you may consider having a wild night there.

We were only on a day trip and not seeking accommodation but did see some signs for rentals and hotel signs. Depends on what time of year you travel, you may be able to just turn up and book somewhere....highly recommend Lamma Island it is beautiful.
