There are a handful of monastery complexes which line the hillside to the north of Tsuen Wan, including Chuck Lam Sim Huen. This monastery is a Grade II historic building in Hong Kong and is open to the public to visit from 8am to 5pm daily. You can reach the monastery from the Tsuen Wan township by using light green bus 85 exiting at the roundabout on Fu Yung Shan Road beside the pavilion and monastery entrance.
This is an attractive monastery potentially worth visiting if sightseeing around Tsuen Wan. Sometimes called the Bamboo Forest Monastery. While the bamboo for which it takes this informal name is mostly gone these days, what you will find is a multi-level complex with a handful of traditional temple structures including memorial gate, pavilions, large halls with shrines, delicately decorated interiors and exteriors.
There are guardian lions and some very impressive deity statues including a Thai style four-faced Brahma and well as several large golden Buddhas statues You'll also see nicely landscaped courtyards, koy ponds, incense burners, large hanging lanterns and other items of worship one often associates with Chinese temples and monasteries.
Note: There are other interesting monasteries fitted into the hillside nearby which can be reached on foot from Chuk Lam Sin Yuen. These include the historic Tong Po Tor as well as the relatively young but beautiful Western Monastery facility. Combined these make for a interesting 2-3 hours of sightseeing on the slopes above Tsuen Wan.

Tsuen Wan is full of historic religious sites. Chuk Lam Sim Yuen is one of the largest and most well known. The vast lush area is serene and solemn. Architecture is the classical Chinese style beautifully restored to the historic grandeur. The main worshiping hall is ornate and nicely preserved. It is still a living monastery with monks and nuns. A pleasant uphill walk from the MTR station leads to the temple although sign is far from clear.

Easy to go by taxi or driving, and there are people to teach you how to do the ceremony. There's also a Main Shrine Hall of Buddha inside.

When we got here in a taxi from the much, much more impressive Western monastery, my girlfriend joked, "Why have we come to an 80s Further Education College?", which unfortunately sums up how a lot if it looks. There is a grand temple structure at the back and good views but not sure if it was really worth the visit.
