火山离日惹市区大约有17公里，路有点小，跑不快。进山要收门票18000卢比/人，上到指定的地点然后租吉普车上山，租车时有选游玩时间，长线短线，起步价是350000卢比/车，一车大约可乘坐四五个人，也可以自行租摩托车自己开上去。

参观火山斜坡的路途非常危险。人们站在没有安全带的吉普车里，而且车子在狭窄拥挤的道路上行驶得很快。靠近山顶的小博物馆很有趣，但参观时间可能不会超过10到15分钟。另一种选择是，通过Grab(东南亚的优步)雇一名司机，在你住的酒店接送你，这样费用要低得多，乘坐起来也更安全，而且和吉普车之旅看到的风景完全一样。

我们进行了最短时间的吉普车旅行。根据你有多少时间，有几种选择。途中有几站:博物馆、火山岩和地堡。几个小贩在附近卖饮料和纪念品。从飞机上拍的风景我们认为是莫拉比。

赶早去的好处是游客少，而且去晚的话，当云雾升上来的时候，会影响视线。我们是先去看火山，下山时在去看火山博物馆和外星人大石

在吉普车之旅中观看了莫拉比火山的日出。很棒的经历，甚至短暂地看到熔岩流！我们俩有一辆私人吉普车。司机知识渊博，乐于助人。完全值得在凌晨3点去那里。建议你选择日出而不是日落，因为下午的天气更难以预测。那里是相对安静的，但当我们早上8点离开的时候，那里已经开始变得非常繁忙，游客络绎不绝。

Hi, Ideally you should start early like 3 -4 AM and you need a jacket for sure. Later it becomes warm and you can remove it. :)

Hi,Can I know is the Merapi open to hike?
As what I know it closed due to eruption few months back.
I'm going on 1 October and I really want to hike to the Peak of Mount Merapi.

If you have a group or are willing to pay for the jeep yourself, the tour agent will take you whatever time you want.
If it is a good idea tho - depends what you want to do, if you want to visit the museum and bunkers or climb the mountain.

Anyhow, based on the situation... the local authorities will caution you. It is really bumpy (like riding on speed breakers) and it is like wild ride due to the pebbles and rocks... if you mother has any back pain or asthma... better avoid it. They will provide you face mask to wear.
