A unique museum that has a complete collection of aircraft - aircraft used in Indonesia. Good for lovers of the world of aerospace

Travelled a very long way and could not get in !
It would seem that the rules have been tightened about foreign visitors !
Spent hours trying via tourist office and emails, but failed.
It remains on my "to do" list, but I need to be certain I will be allowed in !
Not a great experience - be cautious !
I would love to add some photos, but did not get any ..... If anyone knows a UK person can get please let me know !

Not badly done, but the military vintage cars are a little carelessly displayed.
The hangar is indescribably hot and stuffy. Transport is only possible by taxi. Foreigners must show their ID at the checkpoint.

Pesawatnya keren, banyak jenisnya, diorama nya keren, tempat nya bersejarah

This museum present to us a brief history lesson of Indonesian air force. Born from the ashes of colonial air Force power after world war 2, Indonesia air Force has become one of significant power in South East Asia. There are a lot famous plane model such as P-51 mustang, C-47 Dakota, A-4 Skyhawk, OV-10 bronco and many more. They also has an enginee model of recent aircraft (sukhoi) and also a lot of dioramas of important event in Indonesia history. Although it's very fascinating to learn history in this place, AC isn't working well so it's very hot.

It's the first time I revisit Indonesian Air Force Museum after decades of absence. The last time I went here was way back in 1996.
After long absence, I'm glad that the museum has been expanded and the number of collections increased. Several planes that were active in 1996 are now permanent museum exhibit, such as A-4 Skyhawk (which still retain Israeli modifications), F-5 Tiger II (parked behind the Tu-16 bomber), Super Puma helicopter, and many more.
Several items which were once exhibited inside have been moved outside, such as MiG-21 fighter plane and SA-2 missile battery.
There are several items which were once displayed at other places, or stored, have been relocated to this museum such as Indonesian's first C-130 Hercules, and also the last surviving example of Indonesia's Il-14 transport plane.
There are also several foreign planes displayed, planes that never served with Indonesian Air Force , but their wrecks were found in the country (or have significance with the development of our air force) and repaired cosmetically for display such as former Dutch Air Force's Hawker Hunter, and several Japanese WW II fighter planes, plus a Stearman training plane.
Overall this place is a must visit for aviation enthusiasts.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. The museum is situated at the Air Base and access to the base is controlled (as you might expect).
The MPs on duty will expect you to give a copy of your passport or driving license. I had neither. However, I did have my passport and wife her licence - sorted.
Remember to pick them up when leaving though. An interesting affair with vintage aircraft. If you are proper into that kind of thing, you will live it.
I went because it seemed like it might be good - it was. The planes are very photogenic and easy to access and view.
If you have a spare couple of hours and fancy something different.......................

This was an enjoyable visit, you need to go through a military checkpoint and check your passport in as a foreigner. Once through entry was 20,000pp. Lots of old aircraft to look over. Very interesting as I’ve never got up close to any of the Soviet hardware. Worth it if you’ve got a few hours to spare and like to pick-over military gear

Salah satu museum favorite saya di Yogya, dimana saya selalu mengajak teman atau keluarga yang belum pernah ke obyek ini untuk bisa melihat koleksi bukti kejayaan kedirgantaraan Indonesia pada masa itu.
Mohon abaikan tanggal pada watermark foto yang salah.
Disini kita bisa melihat aneka pesawat yang dimiliki Indonesia serta dioarama perjalanan sejarah AURI sebagai pertahanan udara Indonesia pada masa itu.
Aneka persenjataan pada masa silam juga dipamerkan disini, dan saya sangat bangga dikarenakan banyak benda koleksi tua yang cukup terawat disini.
Wisatawan dapat menikmati makanan dan minuman yang juga dijual di kantin di lokasi museum.
Museum ini mudah dijangkau, dikarenakan berada di lokasi Lanud Adisujipto Yogyakarta via pintu Janti.
Parkir luas dan fasilitas umum juga sangat memadai. Dan tempat ini sangat disarankan sebagai salah satu tujuan wisata di Yogyakarta.

its a awesome places for me, i love about the military and all the stuff surrounding them. there are tons of airplane that used by indonesian air force here. and most of all TUPOLEV TU160 was here!!!!
