More than 267 year old church located in Danao city Cebu.
This beautiful catholic church seats right infront of the sea. Yes ! Just cross the main road and you’ll see sunset , late in the afternoon. Free parking with wide area to explore like outdoor candle lighting which is common practice of Cebuanos if you wanted to have intimate conversation with the Almighty.

The church of StomTomas de Villanueva is situated in Danao overlooking the sea. The church dates back to 1755, but has been rebuilt having been the victim of earthquakes. The last major rebuilding was between 1981-85 when Cardinal Rosales was Archbishop of Cebu.
The seating in the church is partly of very old wood style benches with the centre two nearest to the aisle being more modern. There is modern stained glass on display and the usual effigies of Saints. The stations of the cross are of plaster and attractive. A crucifix sits above the altar. The baptistery is on the right of the main (East Entrance).
The front of the church is a sweeping facade with an adjoining bell tower on the right. Interesting to see the facade - bright white in colour is made from bleached coral.
Sadly the photos on the listing when I looked today were certainly not of this church and I hope the ones I have added will make clear the correct church.

Knowing Philippines was occupied by the Spanish until 19th Century. It is good to know the sites that are still maintained and showcase of our past. This one is near Danao Sea port on our way to camotes Island. You will never miss this one. This is close to their parks and playground.
