We took our whole family (children and spouses on the 4/5 Day Inca Trail, and it was exceptional. Over Christmas our family were all saying it was the trip of a lifetime. Lots of memories. Our SAS guide (Rojo) took special care to keep our group distant from the other guide groups along the trail. This allowed us to experience the journey in a way that was more reminiscent of how an Inca may have experienced the trek 500 years ago. Rojo offered many insights, and seemed to be one with the land. The trip with SAS was organized, meals were great, and porters really served us. Highly recommend booking with SAS for the trip.

My experience with Sas Peru was great! The whole organisation worked perfectly. The meeting with the guide, Davies, was a joy - clear, kind, safe, fun. Information was given in a clear and dedicated manner. All the way to me was an unforgettable experience.

Just finished Inca trail, survived the Machu Picchu/Dead Woman’s pass as their souvenir T-shirt indicated! Definitely this was one of the best Camino and worthy visiting trail among the world, not just because of the stunning view and Inca sites along the trail but also the wonderful team (porters & Tour guide Deyviss from SAS). The food along the way was brilliant that I need to remind myself again and again to reduce the portion so that I don’t get altitude sickness and finish the track, for which I would say it’s the only struggle I had! Not the Inca flats and rising or escalation! The professional introduction and care Deyviss brought to us was indeed great that we enjoyed every moment of the trip. Highly appreciate and recommend for Inca trail from SAS!

From 11-11 to 14/11 the Inca Trail done at SAS Travel. Very well liked. Everything fine arranged. We had Deyvis as a guide, knew a lot about the Inca era, but also modern Peru. The porters and cook were fantastic, nice men and perfect food daily, especially when you consider that they have to drag everything with them. The organization is recommended to everyone!

We had a great time on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. What an experience! Our guide, Julio, was fantastic and really made the experience a positive one. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and communicated clearly. Our meals were another stand-out. Absolutely delicious and very much appreciated after a long day of hiking.
Overall, everything was very well organised and we would recommend this SAS tour with Julio as a guide to others.

Had an amazing 2 day Inca trail/Machu Picchu trip with Edwin as our guide. Very knowledgeable on the local history and helpful with all our questions. Very patient with all our photo stops. We had an amazing experience for the most anticipated portion of our holiday in Peru!

Inka Trail service was excellent. Edwin was a great guide for the hike and Machu Pichu visit. Couldn't have asked for a better memorable experience.

We completed a 4 day 3 night Inca trail trek with Deyviss as our guide. The whole trip was phenomenal and well run. Deyviss was knowledgeable and offered excellent insight to the Inca sites we visited as well as the flora and fauna we saw along the way, loved the additional pieces of local knowledge provided to us. The meals were amazing, my partner is gluten free which was also well catered for. Hugely appreciated the smaller group which made for a more personal trip than the larger groups we saw along the way. Massive thanks to the team who supported our trek. Highly recommend

Climbed the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with 12 other women! Rojo and Elias and the entire crew of 18 porters were outstanding! 100% professional. I felt like I was in the best possible hands. We were prepared daily, hourly on what to expect,, how best to manage altitude, stay hydrated, take frequent rests and learned so much along the way about the history and culture of the Incans. The food was above and beyond anything I could have imagined. Arriving at the end of each day to a tent that was already set up for me and a hot meal was the icing on the cake. Oh yea, they even mada a cake for us on the last night! It was a trip of a lifetime and our guides made it so. VERY impressed with SAS Travel and would recommend it to anyone!

SAS travel made this difficult trek an unforgettable experience. Their guides, Rogelio and Elías, were attentive, very supportive and knowledgeable not to mention very patient as they guided us 13 women, most of us in our 60’s. The meals were unexpectedly delicious and all their porters were so courteous.
I highly recommend this group to guide you on this once in a lifetime experience!

Does the Lares Trek tour cover the Sacred Valley? Based on the description it sounds like it does but I'm not familiar with Peru and want to make sure I try to see the highlights.

No it does not cover the SV. We had to do a separate 1 day tour (totally worth it) of Pisac, Pisac market, Ollytamtambo and Chincheros.

If we rent a sleeping bag and inflatable mattress from another outfitter in Cusco and not SAS, how do we return them? Are we expected to carry them back on the train or will the SAS porters return them?

Hey Buddy,
You must indicate to your guide first, if you have hired a porter , porters will deliver your staff at a lunch place "Hostel Viajeros" in Aguas Calientes where the group will rejoin after your visit to Machu Picchu. If you don´t hire a porter you must carry with you during the whole trek until return to Cusco.

Your age is not a limit, a good health and physical conditions are mandatory. Our treks attract people of all levels of experience and fitness, all ages and backgrounds. We expect all participants to train hard in advance to achieve this challenge, but we respect everyone’s limits. We design our treks so that everyone can go at their own pace: this is not a race. For logistical and safety reasons we sometimes need to re-group, so the front-runners will find themselves waiting for the slower ones. Please relax, and remember that this is a team effort that enables people to achieve their personal goals.
The Permits for this trek are so LIMITED and must be reserved well in advance. (Only 200 hikers can walk this popular trek daily.) FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS... Book and pay online a deposit (downpayment) in advance. (For high season (from April to November 8-6 months in advance.) on (Low season (from December to March 4-3 months in advance.) Permits are AVAILABLE on November 26,27,28 and on December 2016 also from January to December 2017.

Quick question for you - did you happen to use the porter service at all? We are unsure of the weight you can give to your porter as it says 6kg, 8kg and 9kg on different sections of the site. Thanks much!

We were told 8 Kg, and that's what they worked to. Eack pack was weighed prior to departure, but no one was questioned .
I would definitely get a porter, unless you are very fit and strong (and a bit of a masochist !)
I had a day pack (around 5 Kg) with water , camera spare clothing etc, and my main items totalled about 7 Kg , carried by the porter.

Not sure if you read my review as Tripadvisor told me it was in the "wrong place". Have you read the below?
We took the 2 day/1night Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu on Dec. 3-4th. Our guide, Andy with SAS Travel was very attentive to our needs. He assisted me with my day pack when climbing the especially difficult stairs on the trail. Although we took the water suggested, we ran out about 2 hours before the end of the first day. He was generous enough to give us his extra water bottle. Our complaints/dissatisfaction:
Day before trek:
1) We chose this trip because of the length of hiking. We also chose this company because they stated we would NOT be staying in a hostel but at one of TWO hotels in Aguas Calientes. The night before our trek, our guide stated that we would stay at a hostel. We had to prove to the SAS travel agent that we had received an email stating that we would stay in a hotel. Had we NOT read the email in its entirety we would NOT have known what was included. Read all the info they send you!
2) Because we booked our own departure date as a private tour, we paid the extra money which we expected. However, there is a note in our confirmation stating that SAS will attempt to get more people to join our trek to bring the costs down. It stated that if we did NOT get more people to join they would cover the cost of ONE night at the hotel they recommended, Hotel Marqueses. They failed to acknowledge that until we proved, once again, what was stated in our email. They did grant us one free night ($90 value). They also stated that if we stayed at their recommended hotel we would receive a 10% discount per night. After they gave us the free night we were promised, they refused to also give us the 10% discount.
Day One-16 Km trek
1) We wanted to hear a lot of information about the culture and history of the Incas as we arrived at each site. We received the bare minimum and only noticed it after other groups would be sitting down listening to their guide speak in detail about the sites. Many of the other guides had props (binders with pictures, etc.) to demo and describe. Andy told us he’d tell us all about it when we arrived in Machu Picchu the following day. However, at every stop we quickly passed by other groups who were listening to their guide’s lectures.
2) Meals for dinner the first night or lunch the 2nd day did NOT include a drink, fyi.
Day Two-Machu Picchu
1) Arrived Machu Picchu by 6:45 am. Once again, not a lot of info from our guide. He was basically through with his walk with us by 8
