Had an incredible trip with a large private group. The tour operators took care of everything, even when we threw numerous unexpected problems their way. They ended up carrying one of our group over 13 miles on a stretcher to get him to safety and they practiced professionalism, safety and had good attitudes the whole time. Miguel was our leader and a miracle worker. He coordinated medical care for multiple people from our group, was able to retrieve lost phones and kept everyone safe and happy. Food was great, camp setups were comfortable and the staff exceeded expectations around every corner. Would highly recommend Miguel and Wayki Trek to anyone.

I had an amazing time with Wayki doing the Inca trail. The organisation and support was outstanding. The porters looked after us really well, setting up camp so we could focus on enjoying the walking. The Chef Senon was amazing, I’ve never eaten so well on an expedition before. And our guide Jose was brilliant. He went at our pace, was very relaxed and incredibly knowledgeable about the history and plants, animals and ecosystems we were passing through. He helped me spot 8 different types of Orchid and really explained al l the Inca sites along the route culminating with a really interesting personal tour of Machu Picchu. I would really recommend this company for any expedition or trek.

What a wonderful trip!
It was a bit of a rush at the end with the hotel drop off at the end and we didn’t get the chance to really express our gratitude to Miguel. He is a wonderful and very skilled guide. We so appreciated his sharing of his knowledge and personal perspectives on Andean life and the rich cultural history of the region. He was able to give us space to enjoy the experience but be there when we needed guidance or wanted more information about the walk , the history , actually anything!! And we appreciated his sense of fun and joy in life . So thank you or Sulpayki Miguel.
The walk is definitely challenging but the support from the happy crew of porters, cooks and our guide Miguel was outstanding.
The 4 day trek enables a greater understanding of Inca history and culture and the visit to Machu Pichu on the last day is so much more rewarding for having that understanding.

Just a truly amazing experience and I owe so much of that to the great people at Wayki. From Americo and Juan who helped me book the perfect experience (and prepared me well ahead of time), to our guide - Jose, to the porters who do so much of the work to ensure the trip goes smoothly, Wayki Trek is a top notch trekking company.
I can't say enough good things about Jose, our guide. He truly became a friend over the short 4 days on the trek. His tour was organized so we were able to get the maximum enjoyment out of the 4 days seeing multiple sites along the way culminating in the visit to Machu Picchu. Guides for the Inca Trail are required to take years of education just to be qualified to guide but I think Jose's 20+ years of experience as a guide would make him amongst the best in the business.
The porters on the trip were incredible. So much hard work goes into making sure everything runs smoothly and they did that for sure. Every day when we arrived at lunch or night camp the porters were already there and had things set up for us. The food was incredible as well. I did not expect the best food of my entire trip to be while hiking but it was. Just an incredible feast every day and very impressive considering how much work it is to lug all that gear up and down the hills. So impressive! My fellow hikers had discussed Wayki at times over the 4 days and we had all selected Wayki amongst one or two candidates because we felt they treated their porters better than other companies and I believe that to be true. You can tell how happy those guys are to work for Wayki!
Thanks again to everyone at Wayki Trek for giving me the experience of a lifetime. I'll never forget it!

My friends and I had a great time on our trip. Our guide Jose was fantastic, as were the porters. The company did a good job with the logistics of the trip to ensure we go to and from the trek on time. It was clear they are an experienced group who can tell you a lot about the Inca trail and the various historical sites.

I had an extraordinary time. IMO the trek itself was better than the destination, taking nothing away from Machu Picchu, but I loved the experience of following the trails, seeing Inca sites along the way (some of which are almost as impressive as MP). I had several weeks at altitude beforehand, so sickness was not an issue for me, and I felt great with the uphill sections, but it is a challenging walk for some, so come prepared and with a good mentality. I saw several people who were clearly finding it difficult but took their time and kept on going. They made it eventually! The porters do an unbelievably good job, ensure you bring cash to tip them. Each night our camp was set up thoughtfully and the food was very plentiful and tasty. The tent was what you'd expect, nothing fancy but spacious for two. There was hot water in the mornings and evenings for a wash. Our guide, Jose, was fantastic. He paced the walking for the group, never leaving anyone behind but allowing me to confidently walk at my own pace, knowing where to stop if I went ahead. Along the way we were treated to lots of information about the construction of the trail and sites of interest. All-in-all the whole trip ran like clockwork.

We chose Wayki Trek for our 5D Salkantay "Adventure" due to its reputation and experience (the company exists since the early 2000s). From the first contact on, they were highly professional and answered all our questions quickly and in good detail.
Our guide Cristian did not only guide us through challenging weather conditions but also shared his broad knowledge of Peruvian nature and history with us. He always went above and beyond to make our 5 day Trek as pleasant as possible.
We're still amazed by the rich variety of dishes our chefs, Ronnie and Richard, created for us (even in a small tent during heavy rain with constant smiles in their faces).
We always had the feeling people at Wayki enjoy what they do and it's not just a "job" for them.
Highly recommended and worth the money!

We had an incredible 4-day Inca Trail hike! José was an extremely kind-hearted, patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging guide. Chef Elías created the most amazing meals all while completing the hike and working with a campsite kitchen that he had to pack up and move everyday. I’m still in awe of Esteban and his crew of porters who always had a smile on their faces and encouraged us as they passed us in the trail. Vamos a la playa! Everyone worked so hard everyday to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. Booking and communication with the office was seamless. With so many tour companies to chose from, I chose Wayki Trek because they were local, have smaller group sizes and have a commitment to social responsibility. I would highly recommend Wayki Trek for your next adventure!

Hi there -- I am looking to do the Salkantay Trek. The price is $780 for an adult, but I am confused on the extra costs -- on one page it suggests a tent & camping equip IS included in the $780, for another it suggests a tent might be extra. Does anyone have experience with this? Thank you!!
撰写日期:2022年9月18日
Yes, we had the same confusion, but when we did the trek, the tent, sleeping bag, pillow, and poles were included, so we went thinking we had to spend extra and brought money for it, but ended up using that money for the Tip. Make sure you to calculate your tip ahead. They had a recommended tip, but verify the tip recommendation with the company when you are booking!

Has anyone taken the 4 day trek with Wayki that is vegan? I only see comments on their page regarding vegetarian. Any insight would be appreciated
撰写日期:2021年10月9日
Hi! Our guide, Sonia, told us that they have catered to vegans and vegetarians before. They made us a lot of corn and potatoes and in a lot of different ways. Plenty of rice and bread as well! Just let them know and I'm sure they can help you out.

Thank you for the wonderful info. We will be going May 13, 2020 and had a few questions. The mattress pads, are they enough or do we need to pack in a better one? Did you use a sleeping bag liner and area the bags mummy or regular style?
Thanks again,
Laura
撰写日期:2019年11月6日
Yes, I believe the sleeping pads were good enough. The sleeping bags were also fine in experience: good quality mummy bags.
There's a good "what to pack" section on the Wayki Trek website that I recommend reviewing: just add this to your homepage: /wayki-adventure/inca-trail/4-days.html

Hello there,
Hope you are well. I am hoping to do a tour from Cusco. We would like to start on 6/21 and have until 6/23 around 11am-12 pm to be back at Cusco.
We would like to see some glacier lakes, Ausungate Lake, hot springs, and Rainbow Mountain. We would also like all food and drink accomodations, tent rentals, and possible horses/etc. to carry our luggage. Please let us know what the minimum kg is for luggage or if there is one. Would all these sites be possible in that short amount of time. Please let me know how much for 2 women. Thank you.
撰写日期:2018年5月31日
Hi,
I did not do any of the areas you are planning on doing so can't really give you any advice on them.
The weight the horses carried was 8kgs per person, you could pay extra to get more horses. Some of the roads are really slow going so sometimes a journey takes longer than normal so you need to think about that.
The trekking companies supply all the tents and sleeping mattresses, food etc so that's something you don't have to worry about.
I would look at the various trekking companies and see what the duration is for doing the areas you want to do. There are plenty companies and hopefully one does all the places you want to go to.
Good luck! Peru is a fantastic place!

What is an average backpack weight for 4-day Inca trail (including the sleeping pad and sleeping bag)?
撰写日期:2017年5月3日
The porters carry all of that if you pay for a porter. If you do not pay for a porter the porters only carry food, tents, and gear they use to provide their services. Hikers carry all their own equipment including sleeping bag, sleeping mat, clothes, water, camera, etc.

Our daughters and a friend (ages 22 and 23) are looking into the 4 day Inca Trail hike with Wayki Trek. It sounds like Wayki may have availability for the small window our daughters can go. They had been looking at a Contiki tour which filled up before they could book it. It was nice that we could book the Contiki tour through a local travel agent where as with Wayki Trek we cannot.
Did anyone who has used Wayki Trek have issues with the company and have a difficult time since they are out of Peru?
撰写日期:2017年1月9日
Hello! We may have availability depending on what time frame you're looking for... the times that have sold out as of today (January 12) are the month of May, all but the first week of April, and the first week in June. We do have a chat function on our website where you can chat with someone live during our office hours of 9am-1pm and 2pm-6pm. Thank you!!

Hi Jason, I am thinking of making arrangements for the 4D/3N Inca Trail and I'm in between three companies Wayki Trek being one of them. They are a little over $100 more than two other companies which have similar good reviews. Even with the increased rates, do you still recommend them? Why do you think their cost is higher? Thank you

I was so incredibly impressed by Wayki Trek I think they are worth every penny.

Is Christmas time considered too rainy to do this trek at that time of year?
撰写日期:2016年9月9日
Hello! December is technically in the middle of the rainy season, and so can be very, very wet. That being said, the weather in Cusco and the surrounding area is also very unpredictable, so you never know if and how much rain there will be. You can absolutely do any of the treks in December, but you will want to be prepared for wet weather- a good poncho, something to cover your day pack, rain pants, waterproof shoes, and quick-dry moisture-wicking clothing, including plenty of socks. Actually, some people say the Andes and Machu Picchu look more mysterious in cloudy, rainy weather as the mountains do get up into the clouds.

Hi Guys, thank you to everyone that has posted.
I am attempting to book on the Wayki web-site but am not able to choose a date before leaving a deposit, is this normal, am I missing something?
Are there still available hikes for Mid-Late June?
撰写日期:2016年3月3日
Also, I see there is a minimum 2 person on many of the bookings, how should I get around this if I am traveling solo?

My parents are going on the 4 day Inca trek and my sisters and I wanted to get them some stuff for it. What type of things will they need? Headlamps? Lanterns? Fabric Repair tape?
撰写日期:2015年7月24日
The headlamp for sure, the buff was really nice to have, probably hand and foot warmers depending on time of year. One item I'd never thought about but loved was sock liners. They make them from a few different materials, a friend who had done the Inca Trail recommended them to us and they were amazing. They help your feet feel dry and I didn't feel like I was getting a blister ever! Dry sacks might be another idea. Makes sure you have something dry when you get to camp and helps keep packing organized.
