Where do I begin. From start to finish it was absolutely incredible! From booking process to information and on trip from our guide Nico and chef Ricarlio were amazing. Ricarlio cooked us so much amazing nutritious yet delicious food and we never ever went hungry which is exactly what we needed for a 5 day trek. Nico, what a gem!! Me and my partner were the only two doing the trek as alot of people cancelled due to the recent protests in Peru, that didn't stop Nico from being second to none, ensuring we were happy comfortable and also making sure we are having the best time ever. He was so lovely and super enthusiastic about his job and you could tell by how he was providing us with so much information about the flora and fauna to the history of the Incas. Our accommodation blew our minds and the trip as a whole completely surpassed our expectations!! It was an amazing way to end our 6 month trip and so happy we went with Salkantay Trekking!! We will definitely be back to do more treks with this company in the future!! :)

The 5 day Salkantay trek was amazing! We had a great time, everything was prepared and we could concentrate to the trek. The food was delicious, the guides and the stuff did a great job helping us in every situation. I can strongly recommend this trek!

This was the most amazing week of my life. Alex was the best guide I could have ever asked for! He was super friendly, funny, and knowledgeable! The entire was so well planned and organized. Every aspect of the trek was incredible. I can not recommend this trek enough!

Really great experience from being picked up at the airport to each epic adventure. Our guide Fredy Zapata was wonderful and treated us as family. The salt mines, Moray, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain were all amazing and made even better by the care taken by the company. We felt safe and looked after the whole trip and really were amazed by the beauty of Peru.

Had a great time on the Salkantay Classic 5 day. Loved the hiking, which was challenging but manageable and took us through beautiful and varied scenery. The food was unbelievable - so much of it, so many different dishes, and all to restaurant quality despite our chefs Alejandro and Juan Champi having to set up in a new kitchen in the middle of nowhere each day. Logistics were super smooth, we never had to worry about anything and Alberto ensured everything turned up where it was supposed to when it was supposed to. Our guide Felix made sure we always felt comfortable, particularly during the hiking, and regaled us with many great stories. The accommodation was as good as I could have imagined given where we were. And finally Machu Picchu was unbelievable.

Una experiencia inolvidable! El primer dia lo disfrutamos desde el inicio subiendo al lago y a pesar de la altura y el esfuerzo merecio la pena. Los cocineros nos preparon una buena comida y la noche la pasamos muy acomodados. Tuvimos la suerte de tener el cielo despejado y vimos una noche estrellada increible.
Pero sin duda alguna lo mejor de la experiencia fue la compañía de nuestro guia Fredy Apaza. Nos ayudo en todo momento si necesitabamos cualquier cosa y estaba atento a todo y además nos enseño muchisimo acerca de la cultura inca y sus secretos, ademas de unas conversaciones muy interesantes. Aprendimos la verdadera importancia de la montaña para su gente y lo el respeto que le guardan, sin duda alguna la experiencia no habria sido igual sin él.
Experiencia muy muy recomendable y hay que ir fisica y mentalmente preparado
Pero sin duda alguna lo mejor de la experiencia fue la compañía de nuestro guia Fredy Apaza. Es un trekking que súper recomiendo, los paisajes de cada día son impresionantes, no te puedes creer lo que recorres cada día.
Y sinceramente, la agencia esta contigo desde el comienzo guiandote. En nuestro, estamos eternamente con Wimber, disfrutamos bastante el viaje y su compañía , extrañare eternamente el “muchachoooos, coca tea”.
Igualmente, los chefs te brindan una experiencia culinaria que cada día no te la puedes creer, son tan bellos. Valoro y aprecio de corazón el trabajo que se requiere, más por mi casi de ser vegana, gracias por todo.
Los campamentos estan de 100%.
Volvería y los recomendaría con todos.
Fue de esos viajes que te duele el “adiós “ porque no quieres que se acabe el viaje ni la compañía

This was the best trip I have ever done. The attention to detail was immaculate. Juan Felix (the tour guide), had incredible knowledge and his main aim of the tour was to make our experience the best it could be. The accommodation was perfect. The food was so much better than expected, Alejandro (head chef) and Juan Champi (assistant chef), did an incredible job, and made sure we were well fed for the trip. Alberto was brilliant as well, and was clearly an expert in his job. I would recommend this trip with Salkantay Trekking strongly to my friends and family. I couldn’t fault it whatsoever. I am so grateful for the little touches that made the experience so special. Huge thanks to the entire team, but especially Juan Felix.

Wir haben uns diesen Trip ausgesucht, weil er günstiger war, als der Inka Trail und authentischer beschrieben war. Für die Firma haben wir uns entschieden, weil alles sehr ausführlich erklärt war. Unser Guide (Felix) war extrem freundlich und authentisch. Er hat uns sehr viel erklärt 😊 auch der Chefkoch Alejandro und sein Assistent Juan Champi haben einen extrem guten Service gebracht. Unser Horseman Alberto war immer on Point und hat zusätzlich beim Essen und der Organisation geholfen. Danke und wirkliche Weiterempfehlung!

Had an amazing time on on the Salkantay Trek in March 2023. Everything was amazing. The accommodation was so well laid out through our the entire trip. We slept comfortable all night.
The food was amazing, the chef (Alenjandro) and the assistant chef Juan Champi made us the most delicious food. The guide Juan Felix gave us the most wonderful five days treking. The horse man (Alberto) took such goo care of belonging.
For the price this company is amazing. If you’re thinking about booking with them do you won’t regret it!!!

What vaccines did you get to go to Peru? Is there anything that’s required to get into the country? (Coming from the US)

No additional vaccines are needed for the Cusco region. If you enter the Amazon in the northern portion of Peru you may need a Yellow Fever vaccine. Of course, you should get your Covid vaccine. Peru has the highest mortality rate from Covid of any country.

I went at the end of July. The temperature on night 1 was 20 degrees F and on night 2 it was 35 degrees F. We were very comfortable in the Sky Camp domes and the Andean huts. We purchased the sleeping bags. They also provided liners and an additional blanket so that we were warm at night. We were both very comfortable and did not feel cold except when we ran to the bathroom in the middle of the night, lol.

Hola a todos. tengo una consulta para quienes yahicieron el tour. Recomiendan el viaje para una sola persona? en este caso sería únicamente para mi. Por otro lado, ¿Conviene comprar las entradas para el Huayna Picchu? O creen que después de 4 días de trekking ya es suficiente?

Hola, se puede hacer sola pero formarás parte del grupo, te lo pasarás muy bien, gestionan el grupo estupendamente. Ellos mismos te gestionarán las entradas. Yo Si que hice el Huayna Picchu y lo recomiendo, las vistas son espectaculares. Disfrútalo!,
Hello was it wet and rainy? I'm thinking of going in March but not certain about the mud. Thanks!

On the 3 day you don't get to go to the Humantay Lake which is a must!!! The only difference between the 4D and 5D is they split the last day (17 miles) into 10 miles + 7 miles. Those last 2 days are flat walking no hiking, so 17 miles is totally do-able even for those who were inexperienced at hiking.
