A beautiful place, the photos do not do justice to its beauty!!!.
Easy trek from the Socma community. Can be done in an hour or hour and a half tops. From there to the Raqypata ruins up top is another 30 minutes, the place is very well kept and the view is so pretty.
I took Peru Tripper agency which also included the visit to Ñaupa Iglesia, this last has long stairs that you can arrive up and admire all the views and ruins.

Es espectacular. Nosotros fuimos primero al mirador, luego a los restos arqueológicos de Raqaypata y finalmente descendimos hacia la catarata. Todo el sendero es extraordinario. Desde la cima, las vistas te dejan sin aliento. No es un lugar muy conocido, pero sin duda vale la pena. Nosotros fuimos con dos niñas (1 año y 9 años), La de 9 años caminó todo el recorrido sin problema y la más pequeña caminó por tramos y el resto del camino la llevamos en una mochila ergonómica. No cuesta el ingreso y se pueden recorrer los restos arqueológicos sin restricción (lo que es poco usual en otros lugares).
Es recomendable llegar con vehículo hasta el restaurante de Ticca Perolniyoc en Socma y ahí empezar la caminata. Tener en cuenta que no hay tiendas donde comprar agua y provisiones, por lo que es mejor ir preparado con agua y alimentos.
A nosotros, con dos niñas, nos tomó 5 horas el recorrido (ida y vuelta).
Si están en Urubamba o Ollantaytambo, es un recorrido obligatorio!!!

Si deseas hacer una buena caminata para llegar a una linda catarata, esta es una excelente opción. El camino es seguro, se siente claramente la altura, pero no se necesita estar entrenado para llegar al objetivo. Los paisajes son hermosos y la vista de la catarata es espectacular, más aun cuando uno esta al pie de la misma.

Vale la. Pena ir hasta la Catarata!!! Es una experiencia única!! Fuimos sin saber que nos de pararía el paseo. Llegamos en auto alquilado hasta un punto Nuestra intención era ir caminando, por suerte optamos subir en caballo. El paseo es hasta unas ruinas que están justo encima de la catarata, y pasas por un mirador para verla. Nosotros sólo llegamos hasta el mirador en caballo, la subida es algo fuerte, y con precipicios, pero son 40 minutos que los vale, el paisaje es fabuloso!!!!! Llegamos al mirador y de ahí empezamos a bajar a pie hacia la caída. Ahí al pie de la catarata hay vegetación buen tupida. El regreso lo hicimos a pie, son como 30 minutos el regreso.
No duden en ir a ese lugar!!!!!

É uma grande cachoeira localizada na rota cachicata, aqui a mais impressionante é a floresta de árvores de queuñas, nativas do Peru.

Linda caminata que inicia en las cercanías de una villa y luego surca valle adentro por los restos de un camino Inca hasta llegar a la zona de la catarata. Lugar místico en donde se dice que purificaban el cuerpo con el agua de esta cascada. La misma se encuentra en las bases del templo Inca Rayanpata, ubicado a varios metros por sobre la caída y al que se puede acceder caminando por el mismo camino. Por ahora no se cobra entrada al lugar y está muy bien mantenido, haciéndolo que realmente valga la pena la visita para aquellos viajeros que buscan sitios arqueológicos alternativos en la zona.

This was my third time traveling to the Cusco area. While the family I was traveling with headed to Machu Picchu, we were looking for something interesting to do in Urubamba. I googled around and found this hike. I was super pleasantly surprised. The hike was somewhat challenging, all uphill. The views of the valley and the mountains are so pristine and untouched, and the waterfall is a bonus to the hike. The whole deal cost 100 solas, from our house in Urubamba, for the guide to take us on the full hike, and back. It was well worth it. Look, you have to see Machu Picchu and Maras/Moray, those are unique to the region. But if you have some extra time and are looking for something also truly magnificent in an underrated way, check out this hike.

La caminata no es tan exigente si se inicia desde pachar, pero si te tomara todo el dia por la distacia, existe ahora una nueva via por Huarocondo si vas con auto es mejor ingresar por ahi y conocer otros lugares no muy comerciales...

I just did this hike yesterday. It was good for sure, but I think some points need to be made.
1. I hiked from the highway to the waterfall and back. I am quite acclimated and it took me 2.5h up and 2.25h to come back. I did get a little lost, which slowed me down a bit. If you use Maps.me, and decide to try the trail on the opposite side of the valley (road on the left, trail on right) it is not easy to follow. I got lost multiple times even while looking at Maps.me the whole time. Stick to the road.
2. Although I just said not to take the trails... I did enjoy them, you get close to the houses of the locals and there are no signs, it just feels so authentic.

We are going in a couple of weeks and the hike looks great - but we are struggling to find a route. Does this require a guide? I don't fancy getting lost on a mountain in the middle of Peru, but if we get some decent instructions or a map then I'm sure we'd be fine. Thanks
