I visited this monument while walking around Zagreb. It is located in Kaptol Square in front of the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption. It was built in the late 19th century to commemorate the Croatian army's victory in the battle against the Ottoman Empire at the end of the 16th century. At the top of the tower stands a golden statue of the Virgin Mary with open arms, and at the bottom of the column are four angels symbolizing the Christian virtues of "faith," "hope," "innocence," and "humility." The base is a fountain, which is somewhat similar to the one I saw in the old town of Bern, Switzerland.

It is the eye-catching monument that stands in the center of the square in front of the Cathedral. The work consists of a pedestal supporting a high column, a golden statue of the Virgin Mary, placed at its top, and four other statues, also golden, depicting angels, placed at its base. A very scenic monument that does not look out of place next to the majesty of the Cathedral which has not yet been reopened after the structural damage suffered following the 2020 earthquake.

The Monument to Our Lady of Zagreb is a religious monument located in Kaptol Square, in the historic center of the city. It was erected in 1900 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Croatia's victory over Turkey in the Battle of Sisak.

On the square in front of Zagreb Cathedral stands the Holy Mary Monument, also called the Monument of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is a victory column that is definitely worth seeing.

Beautiful holy column with the golden statue of the Virgin Mary in a welcoming attitude at the base there are statues of angels, dated around 1865. The statue represents the Assumption of Mary into heaven, after concluding her earthly life, she ascended into heaven soul and body becoming taken up into heaven.

This decorative element does not go unnoticed as it is located in the historic center of Zagreb! It stands out because it is impossible not to notice it, perhaps because some of the statues installed in it are golden! However, nothing extremely sensational! Good luck to you people of TripAdvisor.

This was a lovely monument in front of the Zagreb cathedral. As it was still at the end of winter, the fountain part in the bottom was not working as it had no water in it.
The monument was surprisingly tall and the gold statue of Mary on the top caught the last rays of daylight beautifully. It also looks to have 3 arch angels down the bottoms surround the pillar. A stunning monument.
