Firstly, don't confuse the Natural History Museum with the National History Museum in the old town!
At the Natural History Museum you have to buy tickets from a machine, rather than at a desk, which is right by the entrance. There was someone on hand to help us, when we were struggling to work it out.
The children found the collection of animals and specimens very interesting and we spent nearly two hours there, although an hour for younger children would probably be enough.
The interactive screens are great and in most cases give you lots of information (in Romanian or English) on what you are looking at.

למרות המחשבות שמה עוד הפעם בעלי חיים ? , בסופו של דבר היה ביקור מאד מהנה הכל חדיש ומואר בצורה טובה יש מסכי הסבר ליד כל חלון והכל עשוי טוב . כולל את על העולם לא רק החי ברומניה... כדאי

Despite their personnel lack of communication skills, if you emerse into the artefacts and special exhibitions, you will find a different place that seems to be outside of Bucharest's rush. Located in central area or Bucharest, right acros main government building, with its cheap entrance fee (even that for photographers).

Awesome collection of different animals, fishes, insects etc. Also the environment is really good. What I also liked was that you go through museum following a patch not that you go randomly around the museum. Would really love to see this kind of system in other museums also.

Recently renovated, this museum is probably the best from Bucharest. A great place to spend a couple of quality hours with your kids, where they can learn about animals and their habitats. During weekends it might get a little crowded.

It has a really impressive collection of fauna from all possible parts of the world. Visiting it can be a really salutary experience. I've visited it three times so far and I do return when it will be possible.

Bellissimo Museo pieno di animali imbalsamati suddivisi per nazione. Spiegato benissimo, completo di scheletri di balene ed elefanti. Mio figlio ne è rimasto entusiasta e sinceramente è piaciuto molto anche a noi grandi.

There is no need for any identity to be shown for entry, but it is wise as a tourist to carry your passport or ID with you. I don't carry one myself as an expat, but better to be safe than sorry if a visitor.
