Very cool street to see authentic Panama, loads of local shops and street vendors with lots of fresh food and lotto tickets, their lottery is live and a big deal for the locals. Make sure you hit the Coca Cola restaurant! In terms of safety we had no issues (and we looked like tourists).

A Avenida Central tem inicio no Centro histórico e se estende até a rua 42 , em Bella Vista, portanto você certamente passará por ela. É bastante movimentada.

La Avenida central por la cual se llega al casco viejo de la ciudad, es muy comercial, con cantidad de almacenes, locales comerciales, restaurantes entre otros, por lo cual es bastante concurrida y transitada especialmente de día, se consigue variedad de artículos a buenos precios.

La Avenida Central esta llena de almacenes. No es una avenida en donde esta ningun museo para visitar. Hay personas de bajos recursos que venden afuera de los almacenes,aunque han tratado de quitarlos de alli ,ese es su modo de ganarse el pan de cada dia. Despues del covid 19 muchos lugares cerraron.
Esta Avenida Central ha estado alli y aunque tal vez no sera la mas limpia,pues se encuentran precios que no encontrarias en otros paises. Panama tambien tiene lugares donde encontrara de todo solo hay que saber donde estan ubicados.
Por ser un pais cosmopolita encontrareis todo tipo de restaurantes , playas de aguas transparentes.La foto que han puesto de la central es la avenida Ancon y no la central.

Avoid avoid avoid - this is a very dangerous neighbourhood. A man tried to rob me at knife point on this street at 11:30 am in the morning and fortunately, I was able to run away as I had a head start. The man shouted abuse at me whilst waving the knife at me, I speak Spanish so I knew he was threatening to kill me if I didn't give him everything. I ran away and found the police who just shrugged their shoulders as if this was the kind of thing that happened every single day there and they weren't even interested in chasing the guy who tried to rob me. I know there may be a morbid curiousity associated with, "oh let's see how the poor people live" but trust me, it's not worth it. No no no. Stick to the main tourist attractions in Panama City and avoid where the poor people live. I've traveled a lot around South and Central America, from Dominican Republic to Chile and this was the first time someone tried to rob me at knife point. I can't stress this enough - avoid this place if you're traveling alone, especially at night. You want cheap shops, go to Albrook Mall where you can still find places like Titan's (and others which are equally cheap) without anyone trying to rob you at knife point.

I got a cab to this place this morning. I was expecting to be taken to a mall, but it turns out it's just a street - and a pretty dodgy one at that. I stuck out like a sore thumb as I was walking about looking for the "mall" I'd seen on Google maps. I felt very, very uncomfortable. This area is just grotty street stalls, cheap mobile phone accessory and discount clothing stores. My advice: don't even get out of the cab - go straight to Casco Viejo.

If you want a taste of Panama City, this local area has a lot of history. The shops are not fancy but is a nice stroll on a street that is closed off to traffic for nice stroll. Near to Casco Viejo. Easy walk from Cinco De Mayo subway

It is long n worth the walk. Got most my bras from a store very close to titans....was the most variety for my size...I wear 36dd. There are like 3 clothing stores b4 titans...really worth going to...most reviews online said to expect characters....everyone was friendly...but I did try to fit in as much as possible...dressing like I lived there and not speaking unless necessary...as i didn't know much Spanish...enjoyed the trip !

I honestly do not recommend to take precious holiday time to go there. Really nothing to see, except some super cheap local shops. To me it was a little scary... Would never go there late at night as it feel dangerous... Avoid if possible.

I guess the majority of Panama City people shop "like" here and the shops, the street give you an impression of a very different face of Panama city, besides the skyscrapers and the polished (to be) Casco viejo. So stroll up or down here to get a glimpse of real life.

Hi there, Empire!
There are several places to find authentic souvenirs throughout the city, depending on what you're looking to bring back. If you're near Casco Viejo, there are several vendors selling molas, handcrafted jewelry, and other items that would make nice reminders of your trip to Panama. Also, there are two locations that serve as a flea market of sorts: One in Balboa, and the other in Amador called Centro Municipal de Artesanias Panamenas, directions which can be Googled.
Walking down Central Avenue might yield tablecloths and wares that are thought of as being Panamanian as well as a smaller vendor alley along Santa Ana Church, which has guayabera shirts and dresses that were reasonable.
