Our driver and guide were outstanding. The time for each stop was excellent and lunch was outstanding, we saw plenty of animals including monkeys, sloths, lots of birds, and other critters, we, also, saw numerous big ships in the canal and saw one fully transit a lock and another enter. Pickup was timely and communications the day before was good. The tour operator found me in WhatsApp and it is an excellent way to communicate.

Great experience!! Lovely food, lovely people & the tour to the markets was a great addition to this experience! We loved it and are definately creating this lovely dishes back in the Netherlands with the recipes we recieved!

Our experience began with very clear communication from the company regarding our pickup the morning of the tour. That gave me peace of mind that things would be well organized and they were! The tour bus was comfortable and allowed us to converse amicably with other guests. The timing was very clearly communicated to set expectations regarding time in transit, time at a destination, and when we would be returning to where we were picked up. We saw lots of animals and while I know that's up to nature (you may not see many or any on yours), Nidia's knowledge of the wildlife was fascinating. She has a gift for historical storytelling and kept the entire group engaged. I felt I experienced more by 8:30 a.m. then I could have in an entire day. I won't give away all the delights of the tour but I will say it's worth every penny. Enjoy.

Fantastic way to tour the entire length of the canal without sitting on a boat for eight hours. Our guide, John, was very knowledgeable, spoke clearly and was sure to answer any questions anybody had. He was sure to point out sloths, monkeys, different birds, etc. We were not disappointed. The lunch provided was basic Panamanian fare but very tasty. my confirmation noted that we would receive an email the night before with our specific pick up time. I kept checking my email and Tripadvisor account for a message, but there was none. I eventually received an email with our confirmed pick up time. The email did show it was sent the evening before, but somehow didn’t come through my mail server until well into the tour. It might be helpful to get those confirmation emails/notifications out earlier the day prior to ensure messages go through. Regardless, I highly recommend this tour. .

Highly recommend! A must do! It was about 4 hours+ and we made ceviche, chicken carimana, tamal and caramelized plantain dessert. We started at the restaurant but walked to the market. (Be prepared for a long walk.) I would recommend they start the tour at the market if possible. The chef Jorge was fantastic & a great instructor! His staff were friendly & excellent assistants to the chef. The food was outstanding - it will be hard to find another restaurant with this great of Panamanian food! It was so good that we went back again to have lunch. Wow!! Delicious.

Highly recommend this tour & also doing it on your 1st day. Our tour guide Nidia was outstanding. She was incredibly knowledgeable about everything - Panama Canal history, the monkeys, birds & other wildlife and the San Lorenzo Fort. She spoke with such passion & excitement. Spending the 10 hours with her also gave the opportunity to ask lots of other questions regarding life in Panama. Her information was helpful and gave us a better understanding about the history of Panama & the day to day life in Panama and also facts about this beautiful country. Emanuel (driver) was an excellent driver and when we came across a huge fallen tree on the road in the jungle near the Fort - he was a great assistance to the people trying to clear enough so we can continue our drive. (Hence the 10 hour day). I would do this tour again!

From the moment we were picked up (right on time) The experience was amazing! John was a great guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. The lunch we had was delicious! And the trip to the village was a memory my kids and I will never forget! Highly Recommend..

This is a great tour. John, the tour guide is very very knowledgeable about plant and animal life, Panamanian history and politics. He has has a great sense of humor and is very up beat. He is completely fluent in English and Spanish.
This tour allows you to visit Monkey Islands and see and hear a lot of wildlife. You have to get up early, but that so that you can maximize your chances to see wildlife. It's worth it. You are out in the open part of the canal so you can see how boats navigate after the locks. You get to see boats going through the Atlantic locks. And finally you see historical fortifications on the Atlantic side.
The lunch is tasty and plentiful. We were served in a picnic area near the fort surrounded by Coatis.
It was a great day!

My guide, Nidia, was enthusiastic and packed with information about what we saw. She was also open to all questions about Panama. Joel the driver was also very friendly and fun to chat with.
I didn't have much time in Panama, so this coast-to-coast trip was a great mix of rivers, scenery, canals, and the country's history.
They brought a warm, authentic, and tasty lunch which was one of the highlights.
My guide, Nidia, was enthusiastic and packed with information about what we saw. She was also open to all questions about Panama. Joel the driver was also very friendly and fun to chat with.

This tour is not a cruise ship. You drive to the locks on the Caribbean Sea side to observe ships passing through and learn about how the locks work. The boat trip is in the canal and on Gatun Lake - you see the big ships and pass them in the lake but you are on a smaller boat (seats about 20-25 on benches). The boat also stops at several of the monkey islands and see and feed the monkeys

Quite a few years ago I did an ocean-to-ocean full Panama Canal transit and enjoyed the entire process from my balcony and other deck areas on the ship. Now I am planning a partial transit late this year and note there are a number of shore excursions offered, leaving the ship for, it appears, more in-depth learning on different facets of that part of the world. I'm curious if anyone thinks these add a great benefit to the experience. I'm still intending to enjoy the entire time staying on-board, but welcome feedback on that....and are there any of the specific options that are really worthwhile. I'll be traveling on Crown Princess. Thank you in advance for input!

We stayed at the Crown Plaza hotel @ Financial center. The bus made servarl stops (Hard Rock Hotel, Wyndham financial center, among others).
You may want to check with the tour company but my guess is yes - your hotel is not far from where we stayed.

We (i.e. two persons) want to terminate the trip in the Colon area (we need to go to the Shelter Bay Harbour at the end of the trip). Is this possible without missing major elements of your tour?
Also, we have some luggage with us (2 large bags, two handbags).
