This is our fourth sail on Woodwind and every time it feels like the first time! Whether we have Captain Mickey or Jen, they are always interesting and great hosts. Ed and Nellie were awesome, too. Can’t wait to return!!

Capt. Mickey, Nellie, and Sam were all fantastic - professional, friendly, knowledgeable. They even let the kids on board help with the sails and steering. It was a beautiful and relaxing trip. We'll do this again!

Perfect day on a great boat. This is the 3rd year that my friend and I have gone sailing for our mutual birthday celebration. Great crew, great boat and great weather! A guy from FL sailing with his family said that he has gone out on schooners in 8-10 other cities around the country and that this was the best kept boat he's ever seen. Kudos to the team. Nothing like enjoying an orange crush or as the crew said "a vacation in a cup" on a sunny day on the Chesapeake Bay!

We had a great time on our recent 2 hour cruise. The captain was a competent sailor and a good tour guide. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and they were wonderful with our 7 year old who was allowed to proudly steer the ship for a while. We will be back for another cruise in the future.

Absolutely love sailing with the Schooner Woodwind crew!! What a perfect day on the water with my favorite musicians! Such a unique, intimate way to enjoy a sailing!! Capt Jen always makes us feel so welcome!! This wasn’t my first sailing and definitely won’t be the last!! I always look forward to that special trip to Annapolis!!

Very enjoyable trip out on the 'Wedding Crashers" sailing boat. Captain and crew all very friendly and knowledgeable, and provided lots of interesting information about what we were sailing by and the associated history. We were very lucky with the weather (my wife is famously inclined towards seasickness - but no issues!)
Relaxed time, but the safety recommendations were properly explained to us. Additional bonus points for an absolutely spotless "head"!

The Woodwind, its crew, their professionalism, creativity, hospitality, and interaction with their guests was beyond description. Our son was looking forward to this and it made our vacation! Captain Jenn was exceptional with kids and guests, handling all with passion, enthusiasm, and unique skill. We’d go back to Annapolis if just for another cruise on the Woodwind.

Strongly recommend as a must do for all locals in the Annapolis/DC/Virginia areas, do this for a fun-great experience ,not only to entertain out of town guests. My family of three sailed in late October on a sunny but cool day with calm seas and a mild breeze. Captain John was outstanding, extremely informative and entertaining.
It was amazing to sit and watch the crew set the sails, they even got my daughter to assist, and then to maneuver out of the harbor. We got to the open water were we sat back and watched the scenery as we sailed by. We were served the drinks we had previously ordered, watched the Naval Academy boats sail by, and listen to the Captain tell tales of the history of the area and details about the ship.
Overall it made for a wonderful day and we plan to return again in the spring when they once again set sail.

You must be able to take a step up or down once on board. There are lots of crew members to help you!

I am really interested in sailing but have never been. My goal is to one day live aboard and travel. Will there be an opportunity to learn some sailing tips on the two hours trip? Also can the trip accommodate a heavier person (350 lb.) with no mobility issues?

the 350 lb person cn sit up front no problem. My mother went AND she does have mobility issues.
My husband is a sailor and I would not say this is a place to "learn" Taking a course at JWorld would be more up your ally. however the crew is great about talking about what they're doing. but they are busy handling customers, and dealing with sails.

Thank you for your question. Yes we are sailing on Labor Day from 10am-12pm, 12:30-2:30pm, 3-5pm & 5:30-7:30pm. The cost is $44/adult, $42/senior (over 60) & $27/child (under 12).

Holiday weekends do tend to sell out so we suggest purchasing your tickets in advance.

There is another nice boat out of Annapolis - it's a Priate Ship - specifically for kids. They dress up and it's great for small children. The Windwood for the evening cruise was mostly adults so not sure about daytime, but I'd definitely check out the Priate boat !!!!
