You'll need steely nerves to drive it, especially going east bound in the left (of 2) lane(s) because, unlike the west bound 3 lane version, there is no shoulder on the bridge, and you're about 10" from a mere ~3.5' concrete divider that is all that divides you from a several hundred foot drop into the water as the bridge rises to height. I'm so thankful it was good weather when I crossed. When designing these bridges, in the future, please consider the human affect and provide shoulder space and more barrier so we don't feel like we're walking on a 2x6 - 35 stories off the ground. Even my child woke up in the back seat and commented how scary it was,

After eating at our favorite restaurant along the waterfront, we crossed over the bridge to get back on I-95. It was a glorious sunny day and view of bay was marvelous with fishing boats and people on the beach 🏖️. Great travel.🧳

WARNING…if you have any issues with height AVOID this bridge…high, narrow, low shoulder guards and if the wind blows it will be traumatic.
In the past no cost driver assistance was offered but don’t think this is available any longer.

There are only two bridges across Chesapeake Bay, this one at the north end, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel at the south end. Both are toll bridges. They take a photo of your license and send you a bill in the mail if you haven't paid some other way first.
As bridges go, this one is large and impressive. (Why it's on this site no doubt.) I've been on it twice, once from the east, once from the west, in 2021 and in 2023. Both times, it was an interesting experience.
Caveat: If you are afraid of being on bridges, afraid of height, or afraid of being over water in general, this is going to probably scare you, but ironically, neither time was anyone driving crazy. The way you are herded slowly into the lanes, the height, the large barriers along both sides of the roadway, and if you get one slow car, everyone is going to go slow, most likely contributes to a lack of crazy drivers. There is no room for an idiot to pass you, and no way they can speed either, so that might be consoling.

The Bay Bridge was oddly backed up on an early Monday afternoon with clised lanes. The weather today was very hazy, making it difficult to see across the span. Fortunately, we got a glimpse of Sandy Point Park/Beach and the offshore floating light house. It was not possible to see Annapolis from the Kent Island side, but one is still impressed that span one has lasted 70 years and the second for 50 years. Hopefully, something will be done to add more structures to improve traffic flow.

My son and I were making our way from Ocean City to Washington DC along US Route 50. This means crossing the impressive Bay Bridge, a dual span bridge in the State of Maryland. What I didn't know at the time it that this bridge is regarded as one of the scariest bridges in the United States. This is because of its height, the narrowness of the spans (there are no hard shoulders), the low guardrails, and the frequency of high winds. I'm glad that I didn't realize that at the time of crossing, but it was a quiet, calm, sunny Friday morning in early June. We thoroughly enjoyed the chance to drive across this impressive piece of engineering.

Excellent travels over a great bridge. It was well taken care of and traffic flowed well. We had no trouble traveling to Virginia.

Impressive bridge over the Chesapeake Bay connecting Annapolis, Maryland with the Eastern Shore. It's tolled only in the Eastern direction. Be aware that there is one eastbound lane on the westbound span, which is a little unsettling.

Love to see the bridge and the water. They always seem to be working on it and often a span will have 2-way traffic; like last Saturday at 830pm on our way back after having dinner on the Eastern shore.

Having been in other cities where traffic is congested and merging to cross the bridge, I was a little nervous. It wasn’t a problem at all! My I-pass worked for paying the toll. So easy.

There will be less traffic at night. If you can't go at night, try to get there as early as you can. Another advantage of going at night--you can't see the vast stretches of water on either side of the bridge so it's less scary.

I was going to say 175 feet, but Johnny T has provided solid data in his answer. It it pretty high. However, there are two spans, so you don't face traffic coming from the opposite direction.
