This was a nice way to spend the evening after eating our dinner. The trail is wide, quiet, safe, green, and buggy. We walked about 3 miles and enjoyed stretching our legs after a long ride and it helped relax us for a good night sleep before going to bean town.

Its very peaceful with less people around. Not very difficult trail. Perfect for bikes too. We went with my 7 yr old & she happily did it. It takes you deep into the forest & the trails are well marked. Non parking fee, so that's an added advantage.

I hiked about 4 miles on the trail, out and back along the same route, starting at the Prospect Road entrance. This path took me to the top of Holt Hill from which the Boston skyline is visible. In general, the Trail is lightly marked - you get direction at the major "intersections" of trails, but I had to occasionally foray on my own for awhile. This is particularly true when the Trail intersects public roads. I had a hard time finding the entrance to the Trail in Andover until I went south along Main Street, then southeast along Salem Street, then east on Prospect Road, crossing over the Andover ByPass Road (Hwy 125). As I continued east on Prospect Road, I finally came to a small opening in the wooden fence along the north side of Prospect Road (see pictures) - this is where I started my hike.

I've run parts of the Bay Circuit Trail in Andover (and beyond). Generally there are a number of trails that link up to make up the BCT. In Andover one of the better places to park would be at the Ward Reservation on Prospect Road. Check out baycircuit dot org for plenty of maps and trail descriptions.

The trail isn't certainly where our GPS took us. No marks, no nothing, just houses and driveways. Their website definitely didn't help either. Went to a different trail instead.

The Bay Circuit Trail is a 100+ mile trail that circles Boston. It passes through Andover in a beautiful stretch that includes part of Ward Reservation and across Phillips Academy grounds. The Trail is well marked on every section that I have walked - one white blaze: straight ahead; two white blazes: look for a turn. The Trial is generally dirt paths and, by necessity, crosses roads occasionally. Wonderful walk for anyone.

Was part of an organized 16 mile hike in and around Andover and boy was it amazing! Trails are well maintained, thanks to the volunteers. Can't wait to snow shoe in the winter.

I grew up in Andover and explored all those trails as a Kid. I could ride my bike from one end of town to the other by hardly crossing any streets. The Bay Circuit trail has so many great hidden spots, some feel so secluded you would never know you are in a populated suburb. We still make the trip to Deer Jump on occasion. I now live on the north shore and spend lots of time on the northern sections of the trail. We are so lucky to have such a great trail network! Thanks BCT!

It most certainly isn't where my GPS took me to for 17 Moreland Avenue. Not sure those people appreciated my touring their driveway at the end of the street either. Never found it. Went to a nearby state park instead.
