My friend an I was visiting here 2 nights in our short stay in Antigua. They have a descant amount of craft beer

I was delighted to find this Pub on my fifth visit to Antigua - I only wish I had found it sooner. It's actually quite close to Parque Central, but I hadn't come across it before - what a find! It's rather easy to wish for more variety in Guatemala's beer offerings and this Pub satisfies that want. It's also a most friendly place. I don't imagine you'll regret your visit.

Hops & Tales is one of Antigua´s best kept secrets. It´s location is great and it´s beer selection is unparalleled. If you are looking for great beer and a great atmosphere, then its the place to visit. The owners are always there ready to strike a conversation with any of the visitors, and if beer is your poison then you are in for a treat. H&T has one of Antigua´s best beer selection (bonus points for having a wide variety of artisanal beer as well as beer produced in micro-breweries), and the owners are constantly promoting artisanal brewers.

Marco and Ellie are great people. I love going somewhere I can chat and they make everyone welcome so that pretty soon you're friends with the whole bar. The beer is a little expensive, but there are so few options for craft brew, I am happy to pay a little more for quality. Also, they do growlers, so I can take it to go and often will get a couple for parties. I say, if you want to drink bad, cheap beer, there are hundreds places to go. If you want a great beer, there are maybe 4 and Hops & Tales is my favorite.

What more could one possibly ask for than great beer in a excellent located place with amazing company? NADA!
I first visited Hops & Tales back in September 2014 and immediately fell in love. Not only is the place directly next to my second home in Guate (woo hoo!), but the people who own it are incredible. They really go above and beyond to make sure their customers feel welcome and have an excellent time, giving it a home away from home feel. On top of all that they always make sure their craft beer customers find a beer they love. A great thing about Hops & Tales is, unlike other craft beer bars, you still have the option to grab a local brew (Gallo, Cabro, Moza, etc.) if craft beer isn't your thing. That makes it great for large groups with different tastes. Everyone is happy!
I've since been back to Hops & Tales in November and just last week and can't wait until my next visit!
Great times with good company and delicious beer is what it's all about.

Tried the WAPA and had a hard time enjoying it after I realized I was about to fork out nearly $6 for a pint. I've had numerous craft beers in the region that cost a fraction of what you'll pay at Hops and Tales. I wish you all the best guys, but if you want to help spread the craft beer scene in Central America, make the prices more accessible.

Nice place and very good beers. I discovered Cadejo Brewery from El Salvadore. They have a very nice Stout: La Negra. Beer lovers visiting Antigua: come to this marvelous place and explore Central American beers.

We stopped in here last night for a beer, and stayed for three. I had a stout from Honduras (on tap) and my wife had an IPA. Both were delicious. For most of the time, we were the only patrons, and had a wonderful, lively conversation with the owner, Ellie (turns out we were both born in the same hospital in Evanston, Illinois. File that in the small world department) and her australian assistant. If you're looking for an alternative to the standard Guatemalan beers, this is the place. They have liquor as well, but we were there for the beer. Be aware that they don't open until 5pm, and there's no sign specifying that. Thanks, guys! We really enjoyed ourselves.

After spending 3 weeks in a Guatemala and Belize drinking the likes of Gallo and Belikin, it was a joy to find Hops and Tales in Antigua. Finally, an oasis in the wasteland of bad beer! The man and woman working the counter were very friendly. (Sorry guys that I didn't catch your names). We sampled the different beers that were on tap from a microbrewery in Honduras. We enjoyed them all. We also got to try a stout from a home brewer in Antigua that was delicious. In addition to the craft beers on tap, they also have a large selection of import beers from around the region and world. If you are tired of the lager style beers that are typical of C.A., find Hops and Tales when you are in Antigua. It's worth a stop!

I have always loved good beers. This is he best selection of craft beer that I have found in Antigua. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and fun to be with. The place is spotless, clean, and the draft system is very well looked after.
