Cidade base pro lago atitlan
Melhor cidade base pra se hospedar pra conhecer o lago atitlan. Melhores hotéis e mais facilidade pra quem chega de antigua. Bons restaurantes e muotas lojinhas pra souvenirs.

We used Caminos del Quetzal to schedule a 3 day, 2 night trip to the Peten region to visit the ruins of Tikal. We had been staying in Antigua and Helmuth arranged transportation from our hotel to Guatemala City Airport, where we boarded a regional plane to fly Flores. We were unable to take all out luggage for this side trip, so he had the hotel keep several pieces of luggage, and then his driver retrieved them and brought them to the airport for us when we returned from Tikal. Helmuth arranged and booked all ground and air transportation for us, as well as wonderful hotel accommodations in Flores. He even served as our personal tour guide when we went to Tikal National Park. Helmuth was outgoing, very knowledgeable, and even made sure to bring water to refill our bottles while touring the ruins. From start to finish Helmuth was great to work with, it was a very enjoyable trip, and this family of four would highly recommend using his company.

We used Helmuth for our trip to Tikal. We opted for the over night trip. Helmuth's communication was amazing. We were picked up promptly from our hotel and taken to the airport to catch our flight to Flores. From there we were escorted to our vehicle which was waiting for us. We were then taken to our hotel for the stay. It was such an awesome hotel. it was situation on its own little reserve. You could hear all the birds and some of the monkeys. We opted to go on a tour of Yaxcha. On the way we stopped at a very quaint restaurant on the the lake. It had a tremendous view and local food. From there we on to Yaxcha for the sunset tour. Helmuth explained the ruins to us and provided a tremendous amount of information. He continually check on us since our ages ranged from 17-78..... He provided water for us too. The next morning we were off to Tikal. Again Helmuth explained the "map" of the ruins and our plan of attack. he was full of information and continually asked for feedback. He was quick to point out wildlife and tell us what it was. He also was terrific in climbing ALL the runs with my son while I was too out of shape and hot 102 degrees to climb them all. After the climb of the final temple we were able to take in the view as long as we wanted. From there we made a pit stop to watch the sunset and grab a quick bite to eat before heading to airport back to GC. He was also willing to return to our pick up hotel to retrieve our luggage before heading to our new destination in Antigua. Friendly, informative and worry free. Connect with them and didn't worry about anything else. Awesome

A great experience

We had used Helmuth for our Tikal Trip and we we not the least bit hesitant to use him for our small group. We were picked up from our Hotel in Antigua in a clean comfortable air conditioned van. Our tour guide was friendly and willing to share local information as we drove the 3 hours. His English was great. Upon arrival in Chichi he explained measures we could take to insure maneuvering through the crowded market so we would not get separated. he also provided a tour of the churches and cemetery near by. upon arrival at our hotel in Antigua he stopped and helped part of our party gather their luggage and transported them to their new hotel. can't wait to do it again

Excellent Transportation Service

Helmuth was easy to work with to arrange airport transportation for us. Our arrival was delayed over 3 hours due to storms. The driver patiently waited, was friendly and helpful with a smile.
The vehicle was clean and large enough for the 4 of us and our luggage. The driver was safe.

Poor tour with helmut

We definitely cannot recommend a five-day tour in Antigua, Lake Attitlan with Helmut. Had a terrible experience with this guide. An experience we never had before on the 4 tours we do every year. Limited or no explanations on visits If you don't ask for more explanations or sightseeing, you are already at the hotel by noon every day, while Guatemala has so many wonderful things to visit. A wasted time. The guide chooses the programme according to breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. He likes nothing better than going out to eat all the time and getting paid for each meal. He makes the customer pay EVERY time, without even once saying thank you. He is constantly on the phone for his other business.The first day you can accept that, but the second day you already find it strange that you have to pay for every meal, every coffee, every drink from him This is really not the guide you need around Antigua and Lake Atitlan. The guides at the Mayan ruins were really TOP, engaged with their clients, reserved,engaging, grateful.
Choose another guide, or immediately set your limits or expectations. We were just way too well behaved
