The vast residental area around the beautiful bay is more suited for an enjoyable stay than crowded Old Town. Several buslines travel there in 10 minutes and also connect with the airport bus stop at Ploce. A large Tommy supermarket in the center serves tourists staying in the many rentals. All accomodation is expensive in Dubrovnik, the older Maestra group hotels by the beach are popular with European charter tours.

Great place to stay! Beautiful scenery and lots of places to eat and drink
and lots of places to swim
and dive off the rocks into stunning turquoise water
Also easy 15 minute bus ride to Old Town Dubrovnik

Just returned from Lapad and the area from Kompas all the way the Levante Resturant is spectacular. The area around the beach is all empty and very run down which is such a shame as it could spoil the area and the atmosphere also it was like the people keeping areas clean forgot about that area as there was a problem with litter.

Great location where to sleep. If you consider way smaller price and way nicer seaside than Dubrovnik, you can truly consider to book directly here for your time in Dubrovnik.

Thanks to tour operator Dubrovnik Travel Service we discovered the possibilities of this area: in and around the street Setaliste kralja Zvonimira it is nice to walk, and there are very good restaurants (such as the restaurants Madonna and Pull Over and ice cream shop Sirena).

Lapad bay is a lovely setting with great views and a nice main "strip" with plenty of bars and restaurants (of varying quality) and a number of high quality hotels such as the Kompas and More (and the Cave Bar). Sadly sunset beach itself is currently pretty much a wreck with no sunbeds or umbrellas, all the bars and facilities boarded up, and the main buildings and decks closed and falling into disrepair. This is a shame and undermines what was (and no doubt will be again) an attractive but quiet resort only 10 minutes away from Dubrovnik Old Town. Whilst we enjoyed our stay (at the Kompas) the state of the beach area really creates a negative first impression.

If you are looking for bigger apartments for better prices than directly in Dubrovnik- this is the place. You can find restaurants/bars and cafes around. Taxi to Dubrovnik via Uber/Bolt costs 8 euros, it’s quick and safe. Or you can walk- 40minutes.

This is a review for Sunset Beach only.
One of two beaches we ventured onto. SUNSET BEACH
Not a pleasant beach for spending the day on. There are NO sunbeds, there are NO parasols.
There is only ONE open unisex toilet and 1 cafe. To top it all it's also a pebble beach, but the sea is calm and shallow so if you have kids it's quite safe for them.
It is sporadically a bit stinky but not all the time

I think it's worth mentioning that at time of writing this review Lapad beach looks nothing like the pictures on some rental listings, I believe the company that was running the facilities around Sunset beach have gone into liquidation and the area is very rundown which is a crying shame.

Nothing in the place. The land that time forgot. Great sea views. The centre itself hasn’t been touched since the late 1600s. Very run down like most of Dubrovnik. If the old town wasn’t so beautiful no one would visit. Nothing happening

When does the season end in Lapad? If we went from 24-29 October, would restaurants, shops, water sports still be open at that time of year?

Hello. I stayed in Lapad in June/July which is high season and many cafeterias and restaurants where closed or had just vanished due to the pandemic. In October the situation might be worse with less tourists.

We didn't go to Babin Kuk, unfortunately, as I was told that was more residential. There are dozens of bars and restaurants in Lapad. Some upmarket hotels too.We had one of best meals of our holiday there. A nice beach and safe swimming areas in the sea and a children's swimming area. There is also the famous Cave Bar which is part of the More Hotel. Lovely, but drinks a bit more pricey there. There is a nice walk which takes you on a coastal path past the More Hotel.

Water taxis: We used a water taxi from near the ferry port to Lapad which is just across the water. If you want the beach it is then a 15 min walk from where the water taxi drops you off. The cost is 10kn (about a £1.10) ask for a card from the boatman then you can call him for your return, bear in mind that he only works until around 5pm. Your cheapest way to the Old City will be by bus!

Approfitto per fare qualche domanda su Lapad e sulla vacanza in generale. Stiamo pensando di fare una 10 di giorni di vacanza a Dubrovnik con la famiglia e mi chiedevo se è il caso alloggiare a lapad oppure cambiare zona. Vorrei una zona che ha il mare raggiungibile a piedi ma che allo stesso tempo non sia un mortorio di notte. Ho letto in giro che la città vecchia è sconsigliata per alloggiare ma è preferibile magari visitarla tramite i bus. Volevo inoltre sapere se a lapad le spiagge sono libere o eventualmente il costo di quelle private. Inoltre con,è il costo della vita in Croazia? Mi hanno detto esse caro ma da internet leggo che il costo della vita è simile a quello di napoli o Italia in generale!. Chi c'è stato può dirmi un po' come stanno le cose in generale? Mi sarebbe di grandissimo aiuto, aspettorisposta. Un. Saluto
