I don't think I have ever seen such a great, unique, valuable piece of mosaic in this poor state of maintenance, quite in a mockery way of it.
Such a pity, what's here is something extraordinary, important and valuable and it deserves the same level of maintenance and touristic approach.
I understood it will enter soon in a renovation state. Let's hope this will happen and I will surely be back in a couple of years to see that come true....

The place is very interesting and has tremendous historical value. Really beautiful. But the place is lousy managed, almost neglected. The information is barely existent and makes the visit boring. So read a bit in advance and explore it ignoring the sad seating…

Corruption is the name of the game. A beautiful, spectacular roman mosaic is covered in dust, in an ugly building which is supposed to protect it, with dirty windows, cleaning tools in full sight. Such a pity.

It’s quite small and boring.
0 maintenance in the last 40 years.
The dust is so thick on the mosaic that you will not distinct the colors.
Don’t loose your time and money.

Located next to the Ovidiu square and the archaeological museum of Constanta. Easy to reach.
The edifice is within a building which is more like a greenhouse. It was extremely hot inside during summer. Entrance fee was low as one might guess.
The mosaic floor is actually better than I expected. It is quite long and the shapes are stunning. Marvellous work by the Romans. Highly recommended as it requires only a short stint.

While the mosaic is marvellous, the presentation is pure iron curtain style. A crumbling concrete sarcophagus with handwritten signs presents the dusty showpiece. Gets you timewarped forty years back instantly.

Many artefacts were dug up and put in a single place. Many mosaics on the floor. Lots of interesting containers from shops. Check out the anchors and the iron ore pieces.

The remnants of a Roman floor mosaic dating from the 4th century are housed in this building. It is right behind the National History Museum, and it is worth a visit to see something so ancient. Also nearby is the statue of Ovid, the exiled Roman poet.

l'edificio con il mosaico è accanto al museo nazionale di storia e di archeologia. È possibile vedere il mosaico sia dall'alto che da vicino. Bello l'edificio tutto vetrate. Il mosaico, molto esteso, richiede un restauro.
