After visiting the very underwhelming Folk Art museum nearby, we decided to check out this more traditional museum of archeology and history. A great decision. For only a 20 RON entry fee, there were several floors of interesting artifacts. I was a bit surprised that a city this size had such an impressive collection. My Romanian friends especially enjoyed the upper floor showing items from Communist times.

This museum has 3 levels but I believe only stairs to get to the two upper floors. For a somewhat small town, they had a fantastic selection of items that had been dug up and also discovered in gravesites.

Nice museum, in an interesting building with friendly staff. Ground floor has a striking collection of glass objects from Roman times. First floor has sculptures, pottery, gravestones and funereal items. Second floor has photos and lots of materials on the post-WWII situation in Romania, including the use of prison labor to build the canal from the Danube to the Black Sea. However, while there are extensive English explanations on the ground floor, and some on the first floor, the only explanations on the second floor are in Romanian. We spent about an hour; we could have easily spent twice as long if there were English explanations for the materials on post WWII Romania.

A great introduction to Romania's fascinating past. Lots of national treasures. It was fascinating and I can honestly say I had never seen ancient baby feeding vessels before - looking more like a breast and nipple than the conventional ones I am used to. We were on a tour and and tight schedule, I would have liked to spend more time here.

Unexpected gem in the middle of old town. Very reasonable price an easy walk around three floors of interesting history. Not very accessible if you can’t do stairs. Most plaques have English, but no guide in the museum or audio guides.

I visited on a rainy day. We couldn't go to the beach, so we thought we'd visit something inland. The choice was a good one. Even the children were impressed and attentive to all the exhibits. What pleasantly surprised me is the exhibition on the first floor with the communist period and the one dedicated to the victims of the Danube-Black Sea Canal.

There are exhibits both outside and inside of the building. It is located in a spacious plaza. The history was somewhat interesting but I did not see anything to distinguish it from other history museums.

Nice exhibitions of archeological artifacts from the areas long history, even from before the greeks founded their colony Tomis here in Constanta!
3 floors of old fashioned museum in the central square of the city., some English explanations in writing.
A beautiful building which screams for a needed ypgrade and repairs! Lighting is poor and not very professionaly set up.
