This was certainly one of my favourite pagodas of the whole trip.
The exterior of the Pagoda as well as the incredible interior of seated Buddha’s is breathtaking! A truly beautiful place and not to be missed if you are in Mandalay.
Very peaceful with very few people visiting, we felt honoured to be there.
Certainly a highlight of Mandalay.

En sjov legende om 2 pytons, der blev ved at vendt tilbage til en buddha i klostret, og fik lov at blive der, rammer besøget godt ind. Den ene står der udstoppet endnu. De badede 3 pytons og efter badet blev den ene først tørret fint, dernæst sluppet ud på gulvet foran publikum. Så snoede den sig meget hurtigt over gulvet ind i et andet lokale, hvor den store buddha var. Snoede sig op på den og lagde sig på et tæppe. De andre to blev tørrede og bragt ind til buddhaen, de bugtede sig meget hurtigt op på den, og lå så sammenrullede på buddhaens krone. Specielt!

premesso che la pagoda non è niente di che tranne che per la storia di questo 3 pitoni, la vera bellezza è il viaggio poco lontano: la natura si è ripresa il suo spazio e alberi, piante, rampicanti hanno invaso le pagode; davvero molto suggestivo è molto tranquillo: qui turisti ne vedono davvero pochissimi e girovagare a piedi tra le capanne è un’esperienza incredibile. Realtà birmana al 100%.

Situated on the way from Mandalay airport to the city, it is a convenient stop to visit the snake pagoda and surrounding pagdas and temples in different states of renovation

Snake Pagoda pronounced in Myanmar Language as 'Hmwe Paya'' is situated in Peleik, around 30 minutes drive from Mandalay. The pagoda has many arts depicting the previous life stories of Gautama, the Buddha, the enlightened one. One can see the giant python snake in the pagoda campus. The snake is said to be pious even though it is a wild animal. You should not miss to stroll around the pagoda compound to see the old Buddhist religious buildings.

Wenn man mit dem Pickup auf den Hügel fährt, kann man die U-Min-Ihone Höhle ansehen, wo 45 sitzende Buddhas stehen- unsere Führerin Ni Ni Aung hat sich als Stifterin verewigt! Weiter hinauf zu Two Snake Pagode. Sehenswert ist der Ausblick über das ganze Tal und dem Fluß

Le village de Paleik est célèbre avec son temple Hmwe Paya ou temple du serpent.
C'est en 1974 où ont été trouvés deux serpents enroulés autour d'une statue de Bouddha dans une vieille pagode . Les moines ont essayé sans succès de déloger ces serpents et de ce fait ils ont conclu d'avoir affaire à des animaux sacrés .... Ces reptiles ont ensuite été vénérés jusqu'à leur construire un nouveau temple ! Maintenant naturalisés ces serpents sont toujours présents dans le temple et ont même des successeurs offerts par des fidèles. Le matin vers onze heures un cérémonial permet de voir des pythons prendre leur bain quotidien dans une eau pure parsemée de pétales .
